Music Box Theatre Announces 70MM FESTIVAL, 2/15-28

An epic format deserves an epic festival. For two weeks in February, Music Box Theatre screens nine movies - more than a half-ton of celluloid - at the Music Box Theatre 70MM Festival. Highlights include a brand new print of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey and the return of Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master. Music Box has spent more than 100 man-hours prepping their 70mm equipment to ensure that even audiences who've seen 70mm before have never seen it with this clarity. DISCONNECT Among Line-Up of 2013 Santa Barbara Film Festival

The Santa Barbara Film Festival has announced its 2013 lineup. The 28th edition features films from 49 countries and runs January 24-February 3. The festival will open with DISCONNECT, a drama starring Jason Bateman and will conclude with Rowan Athale's Wasteland.

The third season of Lincoln Center's White Light Festival continues in November with "The Spirit of the Body," a work by dancer/choreographer Malavika Sarukkai showcasing her exquisite interpretations of South India's classical dance, Bharatanatyam. Accompanied by four musicians from Madras, India, the performances are presented in the intimate setting of the Baryshnikov Arts Center.

Motion Picture Academy To Honor Stanley Kubrick

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will celebrate the life and career of filmmaker Stanley Kubrick on Wednesday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Hosted by Malcolm McDowell, the evening features film clips and personal remembrances by his friends and collaborators, including Paul Mazursky, Ryan O'Neal and Matthew Modine. The salute is presented in association with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), leading off its retrospective screening series '2012: A Kubrick Odyssey,' and in conjunction with its exhibition 'Stanley Kubrick.'

Warner Bros. to Release Restored 3D Edition of THE WIZARD OF OZ

Warner Bros. announced today that the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz will be fully restored and converted into 3D, as a part of the studio's 90th Anniversary celebration next year. The film is currently being restored and will be released on Blu-ray 3D in either September or October of next year.
