Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you some cabaret highlights for this week as picked by our theatre editors, including: Show Biz After Hours with Frank DiLella Featuring Laura Osnes and Corey Cott; Classic Broadway at the Metropolitan Room; Comfort Women In Concert; GHOST LIGHT: Songs and Creepy Stories from Broadway and Beyond To Get You In The Halloween Spirit; and Into Sweeney Todd's Woods.

For two weeks in December, the Lovelace Studio Theatre at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts will be transformed into the intimate nightclub world of Cabaret. This brand-new series will bring some of today's most heralded cabaret acts today to The Wallis for the first time including Amanda McBroom, Christine Andreas, Alice Ripley, Freda Payne, Melissa Manchester, Ute Lemper and Jeff Goldblum.

Sunday night, Mark Walter topped off a year of Herculean accomplishment in preserving his father's legacy with a concert at the Cutting Room that went off like fireworks. Somewhere, composer /lyricist/arranger/pianist Cy Walter (right in Lloyd Diaz photo), was beaming. In 2015, Mark completed his father's discography filed with The Library of Congress, created a spanking new website, established The Cy Walter Foundation, and put out a two CD package of pre-1950's music with Harbinger Records. The Sunday concert, with expert Musical Direction by the inimitable Tedd Firth, was an opportunity not only to salute a multifaceted talent, but also for many, including Mark (photo below left), to hear songs that haven't been performed for 60 or 70 years.

The Metropolitan Room hosted two simultaneous events last night. The 10th year of the MAC Award Winning Benefit Series Cabaret Cares, and the 3rd 40th Birthday of the charities creator Joseph Macchia. The non profit Joseph started 10 years ago has raised over $100,000 to help children living with HIV and AIDS. It was a cabaret spectacular and Broadwayworld was there to catch all the action. Broadway's Supper Club presented Joanna Strand and Jacqui Tate last night and BroadwayWorld was there.  Ann Hampton Callaway was a surprise guest and gave the British duo her Diva Blessing. Joanna Strand and Jacqui Tate bridge the worlds of musical theatre, jazz and popular song. Infinitely versatile and with a host of West End and touring credits between them, including The Phantom of the Opera, Avenue Q, Jekyll and Hyde, Evita and My Fair Lady as well as the Broadway transfers of Master Class and South Pacific, they captivate audiences with their unique harmonies and original arrangements. Embracing everything from the ridiculous to the sublime, their shows are guaranteed to entertain and delight.

The stakes and the excitement just keep getting bigger as the list of competitors grows shorter… On Tuesday night "Mama's Next BIG Act!" trimmed down to 16 competitors in front of a packed house filled with raucous fans.

Stephen Hanks, Producer of Cabaret Life Productions, and Union Temple of Brooklyn (17 Eastern Parkway) are proud to announce that Musical Director/Pianist Jon Weber will perform his critically acclaimed show, From Joplin to Jarrett: 100 Years of Piano Jazz, at Union Temple tonight, June 19 at 8 pm. The one-man concert will be in the 3rd Floor Social Hall at 8 pm after the 6:30 pm Shabbat Service and dinner. Admission to the concert is FREE.

Songwriter Larry Kerchner had a great audience of fans for Hidden Treasures IV (produced by Sandi Durell) at Birdland on May 31st hosted by Klea Blackhurst, with a cast of the best of Broadway and Cabaret, including Jim Brochu, Eric Michael Gillett, Carole J.
