Jim Caruso's Cast Party packed Birdland with a huge variety of talent on Monday night. The weekly open mic, recently called 'the best party in the universe' by the Australian Cabaret Confidential, was the place for Broadway folk like Amra-Faye Wright (currently starring as Velma in Chicago), supperclub star Clint Holmes (in rehearsal for his upcoming Café Carlyle run), country legend Larry Gatlin, jazz superstars Jane Monheit, Natalie Douglas and Sachal Vasandani, publicist and birthday boy Richard Hillman, 'Broadway Beat' host Richie Ridge, musical director/pianist Ron Abel, cabaret folks like Scott Coulter and Carole J. Bufford (this Monday's11 O'Clock Numbers revue at Birdland), and regulars Allana Adderly, Daniel Kirkley, Matthew Falber, William Blake, and LA diva Valarie Pettiford!

Yesterday, October 13, Bill Cosby, Chita Rivera and Mark Nadler led the benefit for ART START, an organization that operates with the mission of providing underprivileged children of New York with confidence, creativity and hope through the arts. The volunteers of ART START visit shelters all over the city armed with paintbrushes, mics and instruments - and with them, an opportunity to change a young person's life. As previously announced, The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs will celebrate the 23rd Annual MAC Awards on Monday, May 18th at 7:30pm at B.B. King Blues Club (237 West 42nd St, Between Broadway 8th Avenue). This year's performers/presenters include Polly Bergen (Recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award), Klea Blackhurst, Tyne Daly, Karen Mason, Marilyn Maye, John McDaniel, Rex Reed, Steve Ross, and Julie Wilson among others.

Jungr and Maye Return to Metropolitan Room to Reprise Two Hit Shows

The superstars are staying in alignment when Barb Jungr and Marilyn Maye return to the Metropolitan Room to reprise two of the most well-received shows in recent memory - Jungr's 'I Got Life' and Maye's 'Love on the Rocks.' Both ladies, who appeared in overlapping sold-out engagements during an exciting two-week span in September, are featured at this year's Mabel Mercer Foundation's Cabaret Convention at Lincoln Center. They will supplement their appearances there with late-night encores of their two recent Metropolitan Room acts.
