Finian's Rainbow, which just ended a critically acclaimed five-performance run at New York City Center's Encores! series last weekend, will move to Broadway's St. James Theatre in the fall. Producers David Richenthal and Jack Viertel announced that the show, which hasn't been seen on Broadway since 1960 (it premiered in 1947), will be adapted from the Encores! concert presentation into a full production.
Seattle Theatre Group (STG) and Seattle Public Library host a lively conversation about the role of media in politics from the 1977 interview of President Richard Nixon by British talk show host David Frost to the 2008 interview of Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin by CBS anchor Katie Couric. The discussion will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 2:00pm - 3:00pm at Seattle's Downtown Library. Local political media and academics participating include: Lynne Varner from The Seattle Times and Knute Berger from Crosscut.com (and former Seattle Weekly reporter), and Mark Smith a University of Washington Political Science Professor moderated by KUOW Weekday host Steve Scher. Variety reports that Stacy Keach will return to the role of Richard Nixon for three perfs in the national tour of 'Frost/Nixon,' currently onstage at the Ahmanson Theater. After Keach suffered a mild stroke last week, his understudy, Bob Ari, took over the role of the former president in the Peter Morgan-penned play, helmed by Michael Grandage. Ari understudied the role under Frank Langella in the Broadway production.
Stacy Keach, who had been hospitalized earlier today has been diagnosed as having suffered a very mild stroke, according to a statement released by Center Theatre Group, which can be read below.

The Cleveland Play House is excited to announce that Dee Hoty, a three-time Tony Award? nominated actress, will be the featured entertainer at their Annual Gala on Saturday, June 6, 2009. Born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio, Hoty began her professional career at The Cleveland Play House as a member of the repertory company (1975 and 1976).
