The first BROADWAY BARES in 1992 featured seven dancers stripping on a bar and raised over $8,000. Since then, the 19 editions of BROADWAY BARES have collectively raised over $6.5 million to benefit BC/EFA. Nominations for the 2009 Astaire Awards were announced last night at Elaine?s Restaurant by Michael Riedel of the New York Post. These selections were made by this year?s Nominating Committee; Sylviane Gold (Theater Columnist for Dance Magazine), Anna Kisselgoff (former Chief Dance Critic of The New York Times), Wendy Perron (Editor in Chief of Dance Magazine), Linda Winer (Chief Theater Critic of Newsday) and Damian Woetzel (Former Principal Dancer, New York City Ballet). The producers of the 2009 Astaire Awards, which recognizes excellence in dance on stage and in film, are Patricia Watt and Ron Glucksman.

On Friday February 7th, 2009, Daniel Radcliffe, the young star of Peter Shaffer's play EQUUS on Broadway had his very own Broadway Wall of Fame portrait unveiled at the popular theater district Italian eatery, Tony DiNapoli's. The UK's Telegraph is reporting that EQUUS star Daniel Radcliffe told producer Candia Fisher that he would like his next stage performance to be an all-singing affair. Radcliffe scored big at the annual Gypsy of the Year event this year performing an original song, written by Radcliffe himself, entitled 'The Love That Dare Not Speak Its Neigh' that included the show's 'horses' dancing and cavorting with their young star.
