RIALTO CHATTER: Roundabout Hosting Private COMPANY Readings, Including Steggart, Urie, Cumming & More

BroadwayWorld.com has confirmed online reports that the Roundabout Theatre Company has been hosting private readings for a potential new production of Stephen Sondheim's Company, which might include some gender reversals in the casting of SOME of the show's iconic characters. Also, contrary to published reports, Nathan Lane is not currently attached to the workshop. We have confirmed that featured amongst the cast are Bobby Steggart, Michael Urie, and Alan Cumming.
Roundabout Extends BAD JEWS Through 12/22

BAD JEWS is the best comedy of the season and now it's extended! Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Joshua Harmon's play opened to widespread critical acclaim off-Broadway and the limited engagement will play an extra week through Sunday, December 22, 2013.

This smaller 99-seat space is intimate and inviting. While smaller, there is no less attention given to the quality of its productions.

The Brown University/Trinity Rep MFA Programs present Sophie Treadwell's groundbreaking expressionistic drama Machinal, directed by Aubrey Snowden (Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs '13). Powerful, and gripping, the play traces the plight of a woman fighting the rules of society - and ultimately paying the highest price. Performances are tonight, December 4 through December 16 in the Citizens Bank Theater, Pell Chafee Performance Center, 87 Empire Street, Providence.
Vassar Drama Department Presents LYSISTRATA, 12/6-8

The Vassar Drama department will present three performances of Aristophanes' comedic satire about war and sex, Lysistrata, directed by guest artist Ianthe Demos, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, December 6, 7, and 8, at 8:00pm, in the Martel Theater of the Vogelstein Center for Drama and Film. Demos, a 2000 Vassar graduate, co-founded the critically acclaimed One Year Lease theater company (OYL) in 2001 and their work has been widely praised by the New York Times and New York magazine among other outlets. Andrew Upton and Cate Blanchett tonight announced their final season as Co Artistic Directors of Sydney Theatre Company which will include exceptional onstage partnerships directed by internationally lauded directors. Cate Blanchett and legendary French actor Isabelle Huppert will play murderous sisters directed by Benedict Andrews in a fresh exploration of Genet's The Maids by Andrew Upton and Benedict Andrews. Richard Roxburgh and Hugo Weaving are reunited with Uncle Vanya director Tamas Ascher to give their all for a cornerstone of 20th century theatre, Beckett's Waiting for Godot; and Tim Minchin and Toby Schmitz take on another of theatre's great double acts directed by Simon Phillips in Stoppard's comic masterpiece Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.
