HISTORY MATTERS/BACK TO THE FUTURE Creates Judith Barlow Prize

universitiesHISTORY MATTERS/BACK TO THE FUTURE, a coalition of theatre professionals, has announced the creation of the Judith Barlow Prize which will award $2,500 annually to a student playwright of a one-act play inspired by the work of an historic woman playwright whom she/he has studied. In addition, a $1000 prize will be awarded to the runner up and a $500 prize will be awarded to the winning student's professor who participated in the One Play at a Time initiative. HISTORY MATTERS/BACK TO THE FUTURE promotes the study and production of women's plays of the past in high schools, colleges, universities and theatres throughout the country and encourages responses to those plays from contemporary women playwrights.

Tony Winner Rosemary Harris to Star in Roundabout Theatre's INDIAN INK this Fall

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced Tony Award winner Rosemary Harris will play the role of 'Eleanor Swan' in the Off-Broadway premiere of Tom Stoppard's Indian Ink, directed by Carey Perloff. The production will begin performances on September 4 and open Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold & Miriam Steinberg Centre for Theatre (111 West 46th Street).

While waiting for the snow to clear you can show your metro card to purchase $20 tickets to see Roundabout Theatre Company's MACHINAL starring Rebecca Hall on Broadway. The $20 tickets go on sale at 10AM tomorrow morning, February 13. Machinal plays at 8pm tomorrow night at the American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42 Street). $20 tickets are available for purchase at the box office only. Machinal is a limited engagement through March 2.

Michael Cumpsty: Over 15 Years with Roundabout

Michael Cumpsty's first appearance on a Roundabout stage was in 1987 as a "moonstruck poet" in the Off-Broadway production of George Bernard Shaw's Man and Superman. Since then, he has appeared in 17 Broadway shows including five Roundabout productions and has been nominated for a Tony Award and two Outer Critics Circle awards. Cumpsty's most recent appearance on Broadway is in Machinal, now playing at the American Airlines Theatre through March 2.
