Access Hollywood reports today that Willow Smith is hopeful that Brad Pitt will play the role of 'Daddy Warbucks' in the upcoming remake of Annie, in which she will star. Pitt has not yet responded to the appeal. The new series is produced by Carey and Joe Roth, and will premiere in Spring 2011. The 40-episode show, as yet untitled, will feature a dynamic cast of Carey's talented actor-comedian friends, along with occasional surprise guest stars, who will create a lively, unpredictable and hilarious half-hour of improvised sketch comedy, complete with audience participation. The show will be shot in January and February at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, in front of live audiences.

According to USA Today, Charles Moore, author of a book about Fela Kuti, has sued the producers of the Broadway musical Fela!. As presented to federal court in Manhattan today, Novemmber 8, Moore claims that producers of the show 'stole his work', and wants performances of the show to stop. Moore, who reportedly declined an offer of $4,000 in 2007 from the show's producers, is seeking at least $5 million.
