Boston Philharmonic Performs All-Beethoven Concert Continuing Maestro Zander's Legacy

The Boston Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO), led by founder and conductor Benjamin Zander, presents an all-Beethoven program with three performances today, February 14, 2019 at 7:00pm and Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 3:00pm at Sanders Theatre at Harvard University, and on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 8:00pm at Jordan Hall at New England Conservatory, as part of the orchestra's 40th anniversary season and in honor of Mr. Zander's 80th birthday year.

Alistair McGowan is Back with Classical Piano, Gags, and Impressions

Following his Classical Chart-topping album ('Alistair McGowan: The Piano Album') and his very popular tour, the multi-award-winning impressionist will be returning to the stage to mix classical piano music, historical anecdotes and celebrity voices in Introductions to Classical Piano from 3rd April to 14th July 2019.

The Verdi Chorus Announces Spring 2019 Concert Series

This Spring marks the start of the 36th season of the Verdi Chorus, who will present their Spring Concert, L'Amore e la Vita (Love and Life) for two performances only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on April 6 and 7. Led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum, the Verdi Chorus is the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus. This program, which Ketchum humorously calls the Rom-Com of opera, will feature selections from two Verdi operas I vespri siciliani and Ernani, three Donizetti operas - Don Pasquale, La fille du r giment and L'elisir d'amore, as well as operatic sequences from Bizet's Les p cheurs de perles (The Pearl Fishers), Delibes' Lakm , and Puccini's La rondine.

Leon Fleisher Announces Updated Program For 90th Birthday Celebration At Carnegie Hall

Renowned pianist and pedagogue Leon Fleisher has updated the program for his celebratory 90th birthday recital at Carnegie Hall today, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall to include works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Mozart, along with two selections by Leon Kirchner. Joining Mr. Fleisher on stage are notable friends and colleagues, Jonathan Biss and Yefim Bronfman, whom Mr. Fleisher has mentored throughout his illustrious career. Mr. Fleisher will also be joined by special guests the Dover Quartet and Rachel Calin on bass. The evening's revised program reflects the repertoire that Mr. Fleisher wished to put forth for this celebratory occasion. Full program information is listed below.

The Music Conservatory of Westchester announces four in-depth musical experiences as its new Musical Masters Lecture Series begins on Sundays at 2 PM during spring 2019. Open to the public, the Conservatory's lecture series will include insight from experts Michael Boriskin, Mark Morganelli, Andrew Armstrong, and Elliott Forrest on the topics of Chamber Music, Brazilian Jazz, Musical Storytelling, and Film Music, respectively.

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Returns To Carnegie Hall With Four Concerts In March

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, returns to Carnegie Hall for four concerts in March in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The first two programs, conducted by Ádam Fischer, include Bartok's Two Pictures and Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3 and Symphony No. 3, "Eroica" on Saturday, March 2 at 8:00 p.m. Maestro Fisher returns the following afternoon, Sunday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. with Haydn's Symphony No. 97 and Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, 'Turkish' featuring Leonidas Kavakos along with Mozart's Symphony No. 41, "Jupiter."

Auerbach/Pierce Du Performs Brahms, Mozart, Ravel, Currier, And More

Violinist Dan Auerbach and pianist Joshua Pierce, two exceptional players will share the stage in a joint debut performance on February 6, 8 PM at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Together they present an exclusive program featuring great classics: Mozart's Sonata No. 18 in G Major, K. 301, Brahms's Sonata No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 108 and Ravel's Sonata No. 2. in G Major, Op. 77. The Mozart, Ravel and Brahms sonatas are paired with the Currier's modern Aftersong and Bloch's Nigun from the Baal Shem Suite. Sarasate's Introduction and Tarantella is added to showcase violinistic display.

Bang on a Can and the Jewish Museum's 2018-2019 concert season, pairing innovative music with the Museum's exhibitions and showcasing leading female performers and composers, continues on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 7:30pm. The acclaimed string quartet ETHEL performs the complete string quartets of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Julia Wolfe: Dig Deep, Early that Summer, Four Marys, and Blue Dress. This is the first performance of all of Wolfe's string quartets at one time, on one stage.

Tan Dun Named Dean Of Bard College Conservatory Of Music

Bard College announces the appointment of world-renowned composer, conductor, and artist Tan Dun as Dean of the Bard College Conservatory of Music. As dean, Tan Dun will guide the Conservatory in fulfilling its mission of teaching young musicians both new music and music history, while deepening an understanding of its connection to history, art and culture, and society. He will also help to build the synergy between Eastern and Western studies at the Conservatory, including its recently founded US-China Music Institute.
