The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents prolific singer-songwriter and American folk star Arlo Guthrie on April 21 at 8pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. The beloved icon & social commentator will delight audiences with fan favourites, and a performance of the complete 18-minute Alice's Restaurant Massacree, a song he only revisits every ten years due to its length. The evening will open with special guest, Sarah Lee Guthrie, Arlo's daughter who continues the Guthrie musical lineage with her signature pop-fused folk-rock sound.

Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Musical Theatre Lab will present free staged readings of "Cookin! - A Taste of Things to Come," a new musical by Debra Barsha and Hollye Levin, with musical direction by Gillian Berkowitz. Directed by Tony Award nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett (Swing!), the readings will be held on Monday, May 12th at 1pm & 4pm and Tuesday, May 13th at 4pm at St. Luke's Theatre.

The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines, Central Iowa's premier not-for-profit performing arts center announced the 2011-2012 lineup for the LIVE AT THE TEMPLE concert series as part of the Prairie Meadows Temple Theater Series. New orders for the $140 six-concert package may be placed beginning Monday, Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. online at CivicCenter.org or in person at the Civic Center Ticket Office.
