Village of Ossining Presents Sculpture Exhibit Through October

On Sunday, May 5, a crowd of several hundred people gathered at the Village of Ossining Municipal Building to celebrate the opening of the Ossining in 3D bicentennial sculpture exhibit with a special meet-the-artist reception. The 25-piece outdoor exhibit, open to the public from May 5, 2013 through October 26, 2013, weaves through the Village's historic buildings and downtown waterfront area.

The Blind Boys Of Alabama have signed a worldwide deal with Sony Masterworks, and the label will release the band's next album this Fall. Produced by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, the release will feature an array of unexpected special guests to be announced soon.

The 35th Annual Museum Mile Festival Set for 6/11

Now celebrating its 35th year, the annual Museum Mile Festival (www.museummilefestival.org) takes place rain or shine on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Over 1.5 million people have taken part in this annual celebration since its inception. Festival attendees can walk the Mile between 82nd Street and 105th Street while visiting nine of New York City's finest cultural institutions, which are open free to the public throughout the evening. Visitors can also walk to 110th Street where they will be greeted by music and outdoor art activities at the site of Museum Mile's newest museum, the Museum for African Art. Several other participating museums will also offer outdoor art activities for children.

Lincoln Center to Exhibit Site-Specific Sculptures by Aaron Curry

Lincoln Center has commissioned fourteen monumental, site-specific sculptures by Los Angeles-based artist Aaron Curry, it was announced today by Reynold Levy, President of Lincoln Center. This major exhibition, Lincoln Center's second post-redevelopment free public art initiative, will be installed on Josie Robertson Plaza from October, 2013 through January, 2014.

Alan Wilson and Baram Blackett Release MOSES IN THE HIEROGLYPHS

"The assertion that there are no ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphic texts that make mention of the Hebrew Patriarchs Joseph, Moses, and Solomon and the Queen of Sheba is incorrect," authors Alan Wilson and Baram Blackett write. "There are unmistakable Hieroglyphic texts." In their new book, "Moses In The Hieroglyphs" (published by Trafford Publishing), the authors share findings of the Nation of Khumry that they say state otherwise.

Pianist Simone Dinnerstein Joins LPR X 5

Pianist Simone Dinnerstein gained international success from her recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations, which ranked No. 1 on the US Billboard Classical Chart in its first week of sales. Released in 2007 on Telarc, it was named to many "Best of" lists including those of The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The New Yorker. The first classical musician ever featured at (Le) Poisson Rouge(158 Bleecker Street), Ms. Dinnerstein returns as part of LPR X 5: A Celebration of LPR's Fifth Anniversary to perform the Goldberg Variations live on Sunday, June 9 at 7:30pm.

Jonah Bokaer's THE ULYSSES SYNDROME Makes US Premiere as Part of FIAF Tonight

Jonah Bokaer's 'The Ulysses Syndrome,' will receive its U.S. premiere when it is performed as part of FIAF's World Nomads Festival, which this year focuses on Tunisia, the place of Bokaer's father's birth. The dance will be performed tonight, May 9 and tomorrow, May 10, at Florence Gould Hall.

Warner Bros. Developing DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Film

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the fantasy game, and has already begun developing the film, making use of a script they picked up last year titled CHAINMAIL, from David Leslie Johnson (WRATH OF TITANS.) Johnson's project was originally based off of another game by Gary Gygax, the original creator of D&D. Deadline reports that the script will be reworked to encompass the grand scale of DUNGEONS.

Village of Ossining's Bicentennial Sculpture Exhibit Opens Today

The cornerstone of the 'Ossining in 3D' bicentennial celebration, a large-scale, 25-piece outdoor sculpture exhibit will soon weave through the Village of Ossining's historic buildings and downtown waterfront area. The exhibit will be open to the public from May 5, 2013 through October 26, 2013, with a special meet-the-artist reception today, May 5. The free reception, held from 3:00 - 5:00pm at the Village of Ossining Municipal Building, will include hors d'oeuvres, refreshments and a tour of the sculptures.
