Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert's new novel, The Signature of All Things, is on the shortlist for this year's £30,000 Wellcome book prize. Her book, about botany and exploration, is competing against more straightforwardly scientific titles, since the Wellcome prize can be awarded to fiction or non-fiction titles. Gilbert's book is the only novel to be shortlisted for the award. Only one fiction novel has ever won this prize before, Alice LaPlante's Turn of Mind in 2011. The winner will be announced on April 29th.

Their performances form part of a four day International Choral Conducting Seminar which takes place from today, 20 to 23 February at the Fernhill Hotel, a well-known establishment on the Midlands Meander. The seminar is designed to assist advanced and emerging choral conductors to improve their skills by working with the choirs mentioned and being mentored by international and local choral conducting practitioners.

On Sunday, March 23 at 3:00 p.m. in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, high school singers from across New York City and young artists from the recently launched Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra (JLCYO) will join together to perform works from Duke Ellington's celebrated Sacred Music concerts.
