The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) will honor Steven Tyler & Joe Perry of Aerosmith with the prestigious ASCAP Founders Award during its 30th annual Pop Music Awards, it was announced today by ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams.

Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood married girlfriend Sally Humphreys in a private ceremony in London last evening. Humphreys, 34, is Wood's third wife at 65. Friends and family watched Humphreys walk down the aisle, including best man Rod Steward and Sir Paul McCartney.

According to the web site Ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com, Sir Paul McCartney will stand in for Kurt Cobain during a set at tonight's much-anticipated 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert at Madison Square Garden. The performance will mark a reunion for Cobain's band Nirvana featuring surviving members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. The duo has not performed together in 20 years, but will reportedly play a new song they've been working on with McCartney.

BSO SuperPops Will Present the Canadian Tenors on Thanksgiving Weekend

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) SuperPops welcomes The Canadian Tenors, led by conductor Michael Rossi, to the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on Thanksgiving weekend, with performances on Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24 at 8 p.m., and on Sunday, November 25 at 3 p.m. The Tenors, who have sung with such superstars as Sting, Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Neil Young and Sir Paul McCartney, will bring their blend of pop and classic songs to Baltimore audiences.

NYC Ballet Announces Collaboration with Paul McCartney

New York City Ballet announced today that Sir Paul McCartney and NYCB's Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins will collaborate on a World Premiere ballet for the Company's 2011-2012 season. The new ballet, which will premiere at NYCB's Fall Gala performance on Thursday, September 22, 2011, will mark the first time that Sir Paul has written an original orchestral score for dance. In making the announcement, Martins said that he and Sir Paul met at the School of American Ballet's Winter Gala in 2010 and shortly thereafter began discussing the possibility of working together on a ballet.

The prize, named for American songwriting brothers George and Ira Gershwin, has been awarded annually since 2008 to a musician who has made exceptional contributions to the world of popular song. The prize's first recipient was Paul Simon. Last year, Stevie Wonder received the award.
