Gulf Coast, Mississippi based outdoor activities enthusiast and an author, Kraig Millar, has announced that his first novella, 'Caught Off Balance' has been launched and is available on Amazon.com under the Inspirational Fiction genre. With the early reviews confirming the book to be a compulsive page turner for its readers, 'Caught Off Balance' tells a heartwarming tale that's more of a heady cocktail of the hard fought battles of life, love, hope and healing. Through a truly compelling narrative delivered in a refreshing writing style, the author literally forces his readers into getting involved in and caring about the outcome of the story and how it turns out for the protagonist, Vince Fowler, the troubled teen who is mentored by Jacob Fitts, an elderly raft guide with bizarre stories about guardian angels. What really works for the book is its astonishing climax that literally wakes one up as none can see it coming!
Released under the banner of CreateSpace, 'Caught Off Balance' has 164 pages and is available in paperback edition for $7.99 from Amazon's online book store. The book is also available in Kindle ebook format on Amazon Kindle Bookstore for just $0.99 under a special promotion. After the initial promotion period, the ebook will be available for $2.99.
The ebook is Text-to-Speech enabled and one can switch between reading and listening without losing their place. The feature is available on Kindle Fire HDX, Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle (2nd generation), and Kindle DX.
'We're all living a quite ordinary and average life. Surrounded by constant negativity and struck by tragedies, most of us seem to be caught in an endless vicious circle, fighting with ourselves,' says Kraig Millar, the author of the book. 'Through this book I have aimed to tell an inspiring story to my readers and to convince them to keep faith as it is the most powerful tool they have to turn their lives around, just like it happens for the protagonist of my story!'
Great characterization and gripping narrative ensures that the readers of 'Caught Off Balance' are hooked to the intriguing story of Vince Fowler and Jacob Fitts whom life brings together through a strange turn of events. The book begins with Jacob Fitts, a happy, jolly fellow of faith who is an elderly raft guide, having a stroke. Jacob ends up as a resident at the Serenity Nursing Home, where he meets Vince Fowler, a rather shy and quiet teenager who lost his father to suicide and is now serving community service hours for being involved in a locker-room brawl when he stood up for his friend against a bully.
Things start to get a little uncanny for Vince with the far-fetched anecdotes that Jacob shares with him regularly. Vince doesn't believe the stories, but the more time he spends with Jacob, the more he wonders if there might be some truth behind his lore. No matter what wild tales the old man might cook up, Vince couldn't get himself to believe that guardian angels could be for real.
'There is so much negativity in the world today. I wanted to write a story that takes an unfavorable situation and shows the positive that can occur. While there are some dark and dramatic moments, the story offers a genuine outlook along with some comical wit. Many of my own life experiences and a few of those around me have been the inspiration for me to write this book, which is very dear to my heart,' speaking on the inspiration for his new book, the author says. 'Faith is a powerful tool and I sincerely hope that my book will be able to help my readers shun negativity from their life and experience hope and inspiration!'
Being considered as one of the immensely powerful books released in the inspirational fiction genre in recent months, 'Caught Off Balance' by Kraig Millar is expected to emerge as a must-read inspirational story for the young, the old and all of those in-between.
