RAIN Closes in Philadelphia 6/20

RAIN - A Tribute To The Beatles is back again to give Philadelphia fans an exclusive chance to experience the show before the Broadway premiere! The award-winning Beatles concert, RAIN - A Tribute To The Beatles, is returning for a 4-performance weekend engagement at the Merriam Theater on Friday, June 18 at 8:00 pm; Saturday, June 19 at 2:00 pm & 8:00 pm; and Sunday, June 20 at 2:00 pm before making its Broadway debut for an 11-week engagement at the Neil Simon Theatre on October 19.

Yesterday, June 17, the Player's Club in Gramercy Park hosted Inside Broadway's 2010 Broadway Beacon Awards. Hosted by FOX5 New York's Julie Chang, the awards show honored Tony Award-winners Katie Finneran and Anthony LaPaglia, the current stars of Billy Elliot on Broadway, Harry Coghlan (President and General Manager of Clear Channel Outdoor's New York and Spectacolor Divisions), and Nicholas & Lence Communications CEO (and former NYC & Company Director) Cristyne Nicholas. Presenters for the evening included New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Broadway actor Brooks Ashmanskas, and Broadway Casting Director Nora Brennan. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the celebration.

Benjamin Walker Joins 'X-Men'; No Word on BLOODY's Bway Chances

Showbiz411 reports that Benjamin Walker, currently starring in Off-Broadway's BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, has been confirmed for Matthew Vaughn's upcoming 'X-Men' prequel, 'X-Men: First Class.' According to the report, Walker has been cast as Beast, a role played previously in the series by LA CAGE AUX FOLLES star Kelsey Grammer.

Broadway leading man Hugh Panaro (The Phantom of the Opera, Lestat, Show Boat, Side Show, Les Miserables) is set to perform at Inside Broadway's 2010 Broadway Beacon Awards being held at 5:30pm on June 17th, 2010 at the historic Players Club at Gramercy Park. Harry Coghlan, President and General Manager of Clear Channel Outdoor's New York and Spectacolor Divisions, has also been added as an award recipient for the evening.

A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE starring Academy Award-winner Christopher Walken, who received Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for his role; Sam Rockwell, Anthony Mackie and Zoe Kazan will play its final performance today A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE is playing on Broadway at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street). Directed by John Crowley, the play opened March 4 and must close Sunday, June 6 after playing a strict 16-week engagement.

Storytime Live! is the first-ever live family theatrical tour featuring characters from four of the current top-rated preschool shows on television today : Dora the Explorer, The Backyardigans, The Wonder Pets! and Ni Hao, Kai-lan;. Preschoolers and their parents can see their favorite Nick Jr. characters come to life in one action-packed on-stage adventure hosted by Nick Jr.'s Moose A. Moose and Zee. The tour will visit more than 70 cities in 2010.
