Showtime Appoints Virginia Lazalde-McPherson as Executive Vice President, Business Affairs

Showtime Networks Inc. announced that Virginia Lazalde-McPherson has joined the company as Executive Vice President, Business Affairs. Lazalde-McPherson will serve as the company's head of business affairs for the acquisition and production of all scripted and unscripted series, limited series and documentaries. The announcement was made today by Jana Winograde, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc., to whom Lazalde-McPherson will report. 

Showtime Acquires U.S. Rights to THE GO-GO'S Documentary

SHOWTIME announced today it has acquired U.S. rights to THE GO-GO'S, a feature documentary about the most successful female rock band of all time, with plans to premiere the film later this year. Alison Ellwood (HISTORY OF THE EAGLES, American Jihad) will direct the project. The band granted full access for this textured biography featuring candid interviews and archival footage to tell the real story of their meteoric rise to fame and the journeys, triumphs, laughter and struggles along the way.

Christopher McQuarrie and Anthony Peckham Join THE PRESIDENT IS MISSING

SHOWTIME has announced that Academy Award® winner Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) and Anthony Peckham (Invictus) have joined the drama series THE PRESIDENT IS MISSING, inspired by the bestselling novel by President Bill Clinton and James Patterson, currently in development. McQuarrie will executive produce with Heather McQuarrie and the book's authors. Peckham will also executive produce and write the adaptation. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc.

Showtime Appoints Geoff Stier as the Senior Vice President, Original Programming

Showtime Networks Inc. has announced that Geoff Stier has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Original Programming. Stier will help develop and shepherd original comedies, dramas and limited series for the network. He will be based in the SHOWTIME West Coast offices. The announcement was made today by Amy Israel, Executive Vice President, Scripted Programming, Showtime Networks Inc. to whom he will report. 

Bryan Cranston to Star in YOUR HONOR For Showtime

Oscar nominee and Emmy, Golden Globe(R), Screen Actors Guild(R) and Tony(R) Award winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) has signed on to star and executive produce the new SHOWTIME limited series YOUR HONOR. The series is a legal thriller that rips through all strata of New Orleans society. Cranston will star as a respected judge whose son is involved in a hit-and-run that leads to a high-stakes game of lies, deceit and impossible choices. The 10-episode limited series will be executive produced by Emmy nominees Robert and Michelle King (The Good Fight, The Good Wife). Peter Moffat - whose Criminal Justice served as the basis for The Night Of - serves as showrunner, executive producer and will write multiple episodes, including the first episode. YOUR HONOR will go into production later this year in New Orleans. Showtime Documentary Films Announces Docu-Series About Music Producer Rick Rubin

Showtime Documentary Films today announced the latest project from Academy Award® and Grammy® winner Morgan Neville (Won't You Be My Neighbor, 20 Feet From Stardom): SHANGRI-LA (wt), a docu-series about legendary music producer Rick Rubin that will air on SHOWTIME later this year. A work-in-progress will screen at SXSW in Austin in March. With Rubin's infamous studio in Malibu as the backdrop, SHANGRI-LA pulls back the veil on Rubin and his work with musicians across every genre. The series is an all-access pass into Rubin's creative process, giving viewers a taste of what it's like to be produced by the music world's most singular voice.

Showtime Documentary Films Teams With Alex Gibney & Lawrence Wright To Produce HOUSE OF SAUD (WT)

As the complicated dynamic between the current White House and Saudi Arabia continues to reveal itself and dominate the news, Showtime Documentary Films today announced plans for HOUSE OF SAUD (wt), a documentary feature that will examine the relationship between the two powerful nations. Showtime Orders Seventh Season of RAY DONOVAN

SHOWTIME has ordered a seventh season of its hit drama series RAY DONOVAN, starring multiple Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominee Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight in his Golden Globe winning role. Production will begin in Spring 2019 in New York. The current season of RAY DONOVAN airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with its season finale on January 13. Smithsonian Channel to Premiere BIRD VS. PLANE: MIRACLE ON THE HUDSON

On the 10th anniversary of US Airways Flight 1549's miraculous landing on the Hudson River, Smithsonian Channel revisits the event to explore the impact of bird strikes in aviation accidents around the world. Featuring first-person accounts from survivors and flight safety experts working to reduce collisions, as well as leading scientists in the field of ornithology and wildlife management, BIRD VS. PLANE: MIRACLE ON THE HUDSON examines commercial and military air accidents, investigates the roles different bird species play in these events and highlights groundbreaking work to prevent future occurrences. BIRD VS. Political Documentary Series THE CIRCUS Returns to SHOWTIME This September

As the country readies for one of the most consequential midterm elections in recent history, the third season of the groundbreaking political documentary series THE CIRCUS returns with nine new episodes starting on Sunday, September 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME. Hosted by John Heilemann, Mark McKinnon and Alex Wagner, THE CIRCUS launched the first part of its third season this past spring recording the series' biggest premiere week ever, growing 10 percent in its second week and delivering a series high of 1.3 million viewers, topping its election week total in 2016. 

Tom Fontana Named Executive Producer & Showrunner On Showtime Drama Series CITY ON A HILL

SHOWTIME has named multiple Emmy winner Tom Fontana (Homicide: Life on the Street) as showrunner, executive producer and one of the writers on the upcoming drama series CITY ON A HILL, starring Golden Globe® winner and Emmy nominee Kevin Bacon (The Following) and Screen Actors Guild® award winner Aldis Hodge (Underground). Fontana will work closely with series creator and executive producer Chuck MacLean (Boston Strangler) on the 10-episode series premiering in 2019. Showtime Orders Drama Pilot QUEEN FUR

SHOWTIME has announced the pilot order for the hour-long drama series QUEEN FUR, created, written and executive produced by Eileen Myers (MASTERS OF SEX) and starring Lily Mae Harrington (Some Freaks). Sian Heder (Orange Is the New Black) will direct the pilot. Deb Spera (Army Wives) will also serve as an executive producer. Showtime Signs Emmy Award Winner Lena Waithe to First-Look Deal

Emmy-winning writer and producer Lena Waithe (THE CHI) has signed a first-look deal with SHOWTIME, expanding her relationship with the network that launched her first series as a creator and executive producer. Waithe will work with SHOWTIME on comedy and drama projects that she both writes and produces through her company Hillman Grad Productions. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks.
