Colony Theatre Company's CANDIDA to Begin Previews February 4

The Colony Theatre Company presents the fourth production of its 2008 - 2009 season, CANDIDA, written by George Bernard Shaw and directed by Kathleen F. Conlin. CANDIDA will preview on Wednesday, February 4; Thursday, February 5 and Friday, February 6 at 8:00pm and will open on Saturday, February 7 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, March 8 at The Colony Theatre, 555 North Third Street (at Cypress) adjacent to the Burbank Town Center. CANDIDA is the delightful, light-hearted classic from George Bernard Shaw, writer of Major Barbara and Arms and the Man, winner of the Academy-Award for writing Pygmalion, and recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature. Reverend Morell thinks he and his wife, Candida, have the perfect marriage, but when a passionate young poet also declares his love for her, Morell begins to doubt whether his wife loves him after all. Written over 100 years ago, George Bernard Shaw shows that marriage hasn't changed all that much. Directed by Kathleen F. Conlin, from her acclaimed production at the Utah Shakespearean Festival.

On Friday, January 23, Mario Lopez, the current host of 'Extra!' and the Miss America Pageant, attended a performance of JERSEY BOYS at The Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino. Lopez was in town with family and stopped backstage after the show to congratulate the cast and crew. After only seven months on The Strip, the musical phenomenon JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, was named the number one show of 2008 by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Recently named Hottest Bachelor of 2008 by People magazine, Lopez danced his way into America's heart on the hit program 'Dancing with the Stars' and is one of the most popular performers in the history of that show. He also served as the host of Warner Horizon Television's hit reality-competition series 'Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew,' on MTV, and also starred on Broadway in the part of musical theatre director Zach in the recent revival of 'A Chorus Line.' His television credits include starring roles in the telefilms 'Holidays in Handcuffs' and 'Husband for Hire,' hosting the 2007 Miss America Pageant, and guest-starring appearances on 'Nip/Tuck' and 'George Lopez.' Jersey Boys opened in Las Vegas on May 3, 2008 as the exclusive west coast permanent company, led by Erich Bergen (Bob Gaudio), Rick Faugno (Frankie Valli), Jeff Leibow (Nick Massi) and Deven May (Tommy DeVito) as The Four Seasons. Presented in Las Vegas in a unique, custom-built theatre adorned with one-of-a-kind memorabilia from The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Jersey Boys at The Palazzo is the same production fans all over the world have come to know and love.

On Monday 1/19 MGC Productions hosted a star studded event, Broadway Speaks Out: Live at The Duplex. Broadway Speaks Out is an online talk show that features Broadway performers speaking out about how their careers have influenced the LGBT community. The evening featured Anthony Hollock and Allison Guinn (Hair), Brian Charles Rooney (The Three Penny Opera), Hannah Shankman (RENT Tour), Rob DiCaterino, Michael Burbach, Elliot Roth (Our Sinatra) and Jenn Lederer, Both of whom are in the upcoming production of Midwtwenties:The Show. The concert also had a special guest appearance by internationally known drag performer, Sherry Vine. Martin Gould Cummings, the artistic director and founder of MGC Productions hosted the evening. MGC Productions is a fiscally sponsored theatre company founded by Martin Gould Cummings and his partner Anthony Hollock. Their goal is to bring the LGBT cause to the forefront through theatre, media, and music. 'Broadway Speaks Out' is Live At The Duplex 1/19

MGC Productions, a new LGBT theatre company, is excited to announce that on January 19th at 9:30pm Broadway Speaks Out will be live at the Duplex on Christopher Street. The event will feature Brian Charles Rooney (Three Penny Opera), Hannah Shankman (Rent Tour), Anthony Hollock and Allison Guinn (Hair), Michael Burbach, and Elliot Roth and Jenn Lederer (Midtwenties). The show will also feature famed drag performer Sherry Vine. Hosted by MGC Productions director, Martin Gould Cummings.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present the upcoming New York premiere of Distracted, by Lisa Loomer, directed by Mark Brokaw. Distracted will begin previews on Saturday, February 7th and open officially on Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street). The Distracted cast met the press and BroadwayWorld was there. 'JERSEY BOYS' Named Number One Show By LV Review Journal

The smash hit JERSEY BOYS at The Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino has been named the number one show of the year by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Nevada's largest newspaper. In a year of stiff competition, JERSEY BOYS claimed the top spot for entertainment in 2008 ahead of such celebrated productions as Bette Midler 'The Showgirl Must Go On,' Cher and Donny and Marie Osmond.

Following Travis' rousing performance, previous Strip performer David Hasselhoff sang the National Anthem.

'JERSEY BOYS' Wins 95.8 Capital FM Best West End Show Award

At last night's Visit London People's Choice Awards 2008 held at the Royal Albert Hall and hosted by Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon, JERSEY BOYS won the 95.8 Capital FM Best West End Show Award, an award voted for by Londoners and visitors to London. Other winners included Michael Caine, voted London's Favourite Londoner, and the O2, which won 95.8 Capital FM Best Music Venue Award.

West Coast Ensemble presents the West Coast Premiere of Christopher Durang's MISS WITHERSPOON, directed by Joel Swetow (The Cherry Orchard, Twelfth Night).
