APT Theater to Present Debut Production THE RETURN, 7/18-28

Written by Justin Goodemoot and directed by Alex Beck, THE RETURN zeroes in on a group of reckless, long-time friends in their late-twenties - visual artist Henry Allison, his begrudged lover Daniel and nemesis Remmy - and the events that transpire after a typical Saturday night of partying yields unexpected, tragic results.

The Funkey Monkeys Perform Family Concerts at The Jewish Museum, 11/11

The Funkey Monkeys will perform two concerts for families at The Jewish Museum on Sunday, November 11 at 11:30 am and 2:00 pm. Described as 'Seinfeld meets the Wiggles,' this uniquely hip eight-member band incorporates funny sketches and improvised bits, along with their special brand of funky kid's music, ranging from driving afrobeat to ethereal ballads. Funkey Monkeys will perform songs ranging from their new single, 'Baba Ganoush (Do You Want To Eat A Pita?)' to recent hits such as 'Mustache' and 'Cupcake,' and let audience favorite Monkey Mike loose for adventures in the Museum.

59E59 Theaters has announced the 2012 line up for the 8th annual EAST TO EDINBURGH festival, beginning tonight, July 10 for a limited engagement through Sunday, July 29. Each July, 59E59 Theaters hosts a plethora of innovative US productions en route to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the largest arts festival in the world. Created as a way to help shows get on their feet before flying off to Scotland, EAST TO EDINBURGH simulates the same production constraints that all shows experience during the Festival, while giving them a clean, comfortable and nurturing space to fine-tune their productions. This whirlwind three-week festival, featuring 16 productions, reflects some of the most adventurous theater from NY and across the US.

With puppets, dance, music, and interactive video projections, kids ages 3 & up will be delighted by this visual feast. Based on Mark Twain's short story, A Fable, our talented cast discovers a mysterious 'flat thing,' a mirror, and each sees something different. Is it magic? Only Mark Twain has the answer! A WONDERFULLY FLAT THING is an innovative children's theater production your kids will love. A WONDERFULLY FLAT THING is one of the first productions to be mounted in The 14th Street Y's newly renovated LABA Theatre. It is the result of a collaboration between artist fellows from the 14th Street Y's LABA: The National Laboratory for New Jewish Culture.
