At its 2015 Harman Center for the Arts Gala, the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) will present renowned theatre, film and opera director Julie Taymor with the 2015 William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (Will Award), which recognizes artists who have made significant contributions to classical theatre in America. JM Zell Partners, Ltd. will receive the Sidney Harman Award for Philanthropy in the Arts. Dame Helen Mirren (Academy Award winner and star of Taymor's film The Tempest) will be a special guest at the black-tie event, themed "Imagine: Shakespeare."

VelocityDC Dance Festival is true to its name. It showcases over 20 DC-based dance companies and individual artists over four days. Blink and you will miss it. This festival, started in 2009, is presented in partnership with Dance Metro DC, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Shakespeare Theatre Company, and Washington Performing Arts, and is aimed at showcasing the diversity and vitality of the DC dance scene. Each ticket to the performance is only $18, reducing the barrier to entry for a new dance patron. Friday's show featured 10 individual pieces and a site-specific dance before the main performance, plus a free dance class to finish off the night. Juggling 11 separate pieces in one evening, VelocityDC managed to drop a few balls.

Iman and Pedlow were chosen for their 2014-2015 Mainstage Season performances as the beleaguered serving wench Aldonza in Man of La Mancha and the poetry-obsessed Lucille in The Metromaniacs, respectively. The awards were presented on October 13, 2015, at the Opening Night dinner for the first show of STC's new Mainstage Season, Salome, hosted by the Board of Trustees.
