Shakespeare Takes Center Stage in New BBC Series UPSTART CROW

BroadwayWorld is excited to report that BBC Two has commissioned UPSTART CROW -- a six-part series about the life of William Shakespeare -- as part of the BBC Shakespeare Festival 2016, a major season celebrating the genius of Shakespeare, 400 years after his death. David Mitchell will take on the lead role.

Daniel Fish, the innovative director of theater, opera, and film, collaborates with designer Jim Findlay to create WHO LEFT THIS FORK HERE, a new interdisciplinary work inspired by the psychological and emotional themes of aging and mortality in Anton Chekhov's The Three Sisters. WHO LEFT THIS FORK HERE is set for four performances only, tonight, December 9, through Saturday, December 12, at 7:30pm at Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC)'s Howard Gilman Performance Space, 450 West 37th Street.

KEY CHANGE to Receive US Premiere at Fourth Street Theater

The Carol Tambor Theatrical Foundation is thrilled to announce the US premiere of the critically-acclaimed KEY CHANGE, an Open Clasp production, written by Catrina McHugh and directed by Laura Lindow. KEY CHANGE comes to the US as the 2015 winner of the Best of Edinburgh Award given annually by the Foundation. Performances begin on Thursday, January 7 for a limited engagement through Sunday, January 31. Press Opening is Wednesday, January 13 at 7 PM. The performance schedule is Thursday - Saturday at 7 PM; Sunday at 5 PM. Please note the following schedule adjustments: there is an added performance on Monday, January 11 at 7 PM; there is no performance on Tuesday, January 12. Encores! Artistic Director Jack Viertel today announced the creative teams for New York City Center's 2016 Encores! season. J. Bernard Calloway, Chuck Cooper, Marva Hicks, Carly Hughes, LaChanze, Norm Lewis, Forrest McClendon, and J.D. Webster will star in Vernon Duke and John Latouche's jazz?filled fable Cabin in the Sky, running for seven performances at City Center from February 10-14. The 1940 musical will be directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago?Hudson with choreography by Camille A. Brown.

Guildford Shakespeare Company to Stage THE WINTER'S TALE in 2016

Rubicon Theatre celebrates the holidays with the company's first presentation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, a World Premiere adaptation written by Producing Artistic Director Karyl Lynn Burns and directed by Brian McDonald. Rubicon's A Christmas Carol features a 24-member cast (the largest ensemble since the company's production of Fiddler on the Roof and the largest ever for a play).
