Hunter College President Jennifer J. Raab announced today the inaugural production of the Hunter Theater Project, the New York premiere of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA at the Frederick Loewe Theater at Hunter College (E. 68th Street and Lexington Avenue), directed by Richard Nelson. Translated byRichard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Volokhonsky. This production is the first time renowned Russian literature translators Pevear and Volokhonsky will have a work premiere in New York City, following the show's world premiere at The Old Globe in San Diego, California. Previews for UNCLE VANYA begin Friday, September 7. The production runs through Sunday, October 14, with an official press opening on Sunday, September 16. Tickets are on sale now.
King of Cuba, a new comedy by award-winning writer Cristina Garcia, opens with a press night on Saturday, July 21, and runs through August 19 (previews July 19 & 20) at the historic Berkeley City Club. The summer adventure of the Central Works 2018 season King of Cuba, is developed by Ms. Garcia in the Central Works Writers Workshop featuring the lesbian-gender-bending comedian Marga Gomez, and the Grammy-winning "bongocero" Carlos Caro. All are Cubanx celebrities living in the Bay Area. Directed by Gary Graves, the full cast includes Marco Aponte, Leticia Duarte, Elena Garrity, Marga Gomez, Ben Ortega and Steve Ortiz.

According to Deadline, Xavier Dolan and Will Beinbrink have landed supporting roles in New Line Cinema's IT Chapter Two for director Andy Muschietti, who helmed the original. The sequel portrays the kids — members of the Losers' Club, who were tormented by Pennywise — as adults. James McAvoy plays Bill, Bill Hader is Richie, Jessica Chastain is Beverly, James Ransone is Eddie, Andy Bean is Stanley, Jay Ryan is Ben and Isaiah Mustafa is Mike. Bill Skarsgard returns as Pennywise.

Capital Stage presents the California Premiere of The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse. This satirical comedy follows four well-meaning white artists attempting to devise a politically correct Thanksgiving play for Native American Heritage Month - to be performed for school children. One artist's career hangs on the line, dependent on this play's success...or failure. Will they do it? Should they do it? The Thanksgiving Play will be directed by Producing Artistic Director Michael Stevenson and is the seventh and final production of Capital Stage's 2017/18 Season: Future Tense. Mother and daughter duo Rafaella Hutchinson and Sally George are to be the first ever family pairing to star as the reclusive Little Voice and meddling mother Mari in Jim Cartwright's The Rise and Fall of Little Voice. The new production coming to Park Theatre, directed by Tom Latter and Associate directed by Anita Dobson, will also feature Linford Johnson, Kevin McMonagle, Jamie-Rose Monk and Shaun Prendergast in the much-beloved story of an undiscovered and introverted virtuoso thrust into the spotlight.
Casting is announced for Seattle Shakespeare Company's free Wooden O productions of King Lear and The Merry Wives of Windsor which start performances on Thursday, July 12.
