Cast Set for Jose Rivera and Hector Buitrago's ANOTHER WORD FOR BEAUTY at Goodman Theatre

Goodman Theatre announces casting for ANOTHER WORD FOR BEAUTY, a world premiere music-filled work by Academy Award nominee Jose Rivera with music by Grammy Award winner Hector Buitrago. Directed by Steve Cosson and developed through a co-commission between the Goodman and the New York-based theater company The Civilians, ANOTHER WORD FOR BEAUTY is inspired by the true stories of the inmates at El Buen Pastor womens prison in Bogota, Colombia, who compete in a beauty pageant intended by their jailers to motivate and rehabilitate them.

Over the past two years, the FFT LitFest has brought together some of Chicago's greatest writers, including Seth Bockley, Philip Dawkins, Bonnie Metzgar, Ike Holter, Morgan McNaught, andPaul Oakley Stovall, to respond to literary greats The Brothers Grimm and Mark Twain.

Actors Theatre of Louisville Receives Grant from The Roy Cockrum Foundation

Actors Theatre of Louisville's Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein announce that the theatre is the recipient of a major grant awarded from The Roy Cockrum Foundation in support of the theatre's prestigious Apprentice/Intern Company. The award will support grants over the next ten years for each apprentice and intern during the nine-month program, and provides year-round employment for the program's leadership. The Apprentice/Intern Company offers total immersion into the world of a major American regional theatre and a unique combination of performance, training, observation and networking.

Sideshow Theatre Company Sets Full 2015-16 Season

Sideshow Theatre Company is pleased to announce its full 2015/16 Season, beginning this fall with the world premiere of Hansol Jung's surreal and mischievous new comedy NO MORE SAD THINGS, directed by Elly Green. Next winter, the season continues with another world premiere, David Jacobi's chilling new drama MAI DANG LAO directed by artistic associate Marti Lyons. The season concludes next spring with CAUGHT, a new, head-spinning collaboration with playwright Christopher Chen, Chicago's Xiong Art Gallery and director Seth Bockley. All three productions will be presented at Chicago's Victory Gardens Richard Christiansen Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave., where Sideshow continues its multi-year residency. Pivot Arts and Loyola University's Department of Fine and Performing Arts (DFPA) continue their partnership with a unique Performing Arts Incubator Program for artists, which includes mentorships for Loyola undergraduates throughout January and February 2015. The program provides companies and individual artists time and space to develop work that is innovative and often blurs the boundaries between music, dance, theater and other disciplines. The elevated structure displayed in the lobby was built by After School Matters students this past fall and will be adorned over time with glassware donated by our community.

Chicago's acclaimed Spectacle company Redmoon announces its annual family-friendly Winter Pageant for two weekends in December. In its 16th year, the holiday tradition explores the idea of grand love and honors the four seasons of the human heart. Set atop a massive glacier, the love stories are brought to life by a cast of more than 40 performers - 10 professional spectacle performers alongside 30 community collaborators. These include internationally acclaimed break dancers, aerialists ages 8 to 35, a teen choir and beautiful, handmade Redmoon puppets and costumes, with a live original score performed by a one-man/10-instrument band. POCATELLO Begins Tonight at Playwrights Horizons

Playwrights Horizons' production of POCATELLO, the world premiere of a new play by Obie, Drama Desk and Lortel awards winner and 2014 MacArthur Foundation 'Genius' grantee Samuel D. Hunter (The Whale at PH, The Few, A Bright New Boise), is directed by Davis McCallum (The Whale at PH, The Few, London Wall, A Bright New Boise, Water by the Spoonful). The play is the third production of the theater company's 2014/2015 Season. The production will begin previews tonight, November 21 with an opening night set for Monday, December 15. The limited engagement will play through Sunday evening, January 4, 2015 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).
