LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & MC COY RIGBY ENTERTAINMENT present the first production in its 2014-2015 season with the Tony Award-winning GOOD PEOPLE, written by David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Fuddy Meers) and directed by Jeff Maynard (Broadway Bound, Boeing-Boeing). GOOD PEOPLE will feature Katie MacNichol, Anne Gee Byrd, Gigi Bermingham, Wyatt Fenner, Sophina Brown and Martin Kildare.

Apollo's Fire, The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, will open the Houston Early Music season on Nov. 10 with a performance of Claudio Monteverdi's magnificent Vespers of 1610 in one of Houston's most dramatic concert settings, the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, co-sponsor of the event.

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will honor its former music director, Lorin Maazel, who passed away on July 13, 2014, during the first subscription weekend of its BNY Mellon Grand Classics season on Sept. 19-21 at Heinz Hall.

The board of Bach Vespers at Holy Trinity is pleased to announce the inaugural season of its new artistic director Donald Meineke. Only the fourth director in Bach Vesper's 47-year history, Meineke has planned the largest and most ambitious season to date, placing newly discovered works and North American premiers alongside longstanding favorites. Repertoire for the season has been meticulously chosen to showcase the tremendous talent of the Bach Choir and Players and follows a theme of lineage and new beginnings. The board of Bach Vespers at Holy Trinity is delighted to announce the appointment of Donald R. Meineke as the 4th Artistic Director in its 47-year history. Donald will succeed outgoing Cantor Rick Erickson who held the post for 22 years.

At 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, Allegro, The Chamber Orchestra of Lancaster will perform the final installment of its summer concert series at the Ware Center in Lancaster. The concert, 'Wondrous Journey,' will continue to highlight the theme of romantic love.

SPRING & FALL, one of the most exciting dance seasons ever to grace the South African stage, will be presented by the Cape Town City Ballet in September. Musical Humorist Peter Schickele will perform 50 Years of P.D.Q. Bach: A Triumph of Incompetence at The Colonial Theatre tonight, July 26 at 8pm. It's been 50 years since Professor Peter Schickele released P.D.Q. Bach on an unsuspecting musical public. And it's been 80 years since the professor's mother released the professor on an society ill-prepared for such singular genius. And now, because everyone loves a birthday, Professor Schickele has reached back across the decades to explore the damp vaults and dusty attics of Leipzig to once again celebrate the twenty-first child (out of twenty) of the great J.S. Bach. This special, once in a half-century, musical extravaganza will feature the creme de la creme of history's most justifiably neglected composer.

On Tuesday, September 23 at 8:00PM at Alice Tully Hall, the American Classical Orchestra presents its opening night concert of its 30th Anniversary season with music that includes Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with violin soloist Krista Bennion Feeney; Beethoven Symphony No. 8 and Mozart Symphony No. 35 'Haffner'. Krista Bennion Feeney will perform the legendary Mendelssohn Concerto on a historic violin with the same configuration as that of Mendelssohn's concertmaster Ferdinand David.

Today, Houston Mayor Annise D. Parker joined former Secretary of State James A. Baker, III and representatives from Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy, the Houston-Leipzig (Germany) Sister City Association and the Houston Symphony to announce a concert event at Jones Hall marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The world-renowned Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra will kick-off a tour of the United States in Houston, Leipzig's official sister city, with a concert on Monday, November 3, presented by the Houston Symphony. The performance will include works by famous German composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Felix Mendelssohn, one of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra's most celebrated music directors.
