La Mirada Theatre and McCoy Rigby Entertainment to Present GOOD PEOPLE, 9/19-10/12

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & MC COY RIGBY ENTERTAINMENT present the first production in its 2014-2015 season with the Tony Award-winning GOOD PEOPLE, written by David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Fuddy Meers) and directed by Jeff Maynard (Broadway Bound, Boeing-Boeing). GOOD PEOPLE will feature Katie MacNichol, Anne Gee Byrd, Gigi Bermingham, Wyatt Fenner, Sophina Brown and Martin Kildare.

Apollo's Fire to Open Houston Early Music's Season, 11/10

Apollo's Fire, The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, will open the Houston Early Music season on Nov. 10 with a performance of Claudio Monteverdi's magnificent Vespers of 1610 in one of Houston's most dramatic concert settings, the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, co-sponsor of the event.

The board of Bach Vespers at Holy Trinity is pleased to announce the inaugural season of its new artistic director Donald Meineke. Only the fourth director in Bach Vesper's 47-year history, Meineke has planned the largest and most ambitious season to date, placing newly discovered works and North American premiers alongside longstanding favorites. Repertoire for the season has been meticulously chosen to showcase the tremendous talent of the Bach Choir and Players and follows a theme of lineage and new beginnings. Already a standout in New York City's thriving early music scene, this new leadership and exciting season promises to take the Bach Choir and Players of Bach Vespers at Holy Trinity to new heights.

Today, Houston Mayor Annise D. Parker joined former Secretary of State James A. Baker, III and representatives from Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy, the Houston-Leipzig (Germany) Sister City Association and the Houston Symphony to announce a concert event at Jones Hall marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The world-renowned Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra will kick-off a tour of the United States in Houston, Leipzig's official sister city, with a concert on Monday, November 3, presented by the Houston Symphony. The performance will include works by famous German composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Felix Mendelssohn, one of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra's most celebrated music directors.
