Broadway Revival of HUGHIE with Forest Whitaker Pushes Back First Performance

The Broadway revival of Hughie, starring Academy Award winner, Golden Globe Award winner & BAFTA winner Forest Whitaker and Tony Award winner Frank Wood will now begin performances on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 at Broadway's Booth Theatre, BroadwayWorld has learned. The production's first preview was originally slated for Friday, February 5, 2016.

Tony Winner Frank Wood Will Join Forest Whitaker in HUGHIE on Broadway

Producers Darren Bagert and Michael Grandage Company announced today that Academy Award® winner, Golden Globe Award® winner & BAFTA winner Forest Whitaker will be joined by Tony Award® winner Frank Wood (Side Man, Angels In America, Clybourne Park) in the Broadway revival of Eugene O'Neill's HUGHIE, which will begin performances on Friday, February 5, 2016 and officially open on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Broadway's Booth Theatre (222 West 45 Street). Directed by Tony Award® winner and Olivier Award® winner Michael Grandage, HUGHIE will play a strictly limited engagement.

THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY Headed to Los Angeles in 2016

The producers of the critically-acclaimed new play THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY announced today that the play written by and starring James Lecesne will play a strictly limited three week engagement in Los Angeles from Wednesday, January 13, 2016 through Sunday, January 31, 2016 as a guest production at the Kirk Douglas Theatre (9820 Washington Boulevard, Culver City).  The hit play ends its Off-Broadway engagement Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43 Street).

The producers of the critically-acclaimed new play THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY announced today that the hit play written by and starring James Lecesne will extend its engagement and now play through Sunday, October 18 at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43 Street). A complete national tour schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.

The award, previously awarded to LGBT civil rights hero Edie Windsor and Tony Award Winner and activist Alan Cumming, is given to a unique individual who is a shining beacon in their community, and an inspiration to live as your truest self. Ms. Ensler will be given the Absolute Brightness Award after the evening performance on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43 Street).

Eden Espinosa to Headline Benefit for Branford's Legacy Theatre

Eden Espinosa, star of Broadway's Wicked, Rent, and Brooklyn, will headline EDEN ESPINOSA AND FRIENDS, a concert to benefit Legacy Theatre on Thursday, July 16th at 7:00pm. The concert will take place at the Owenego Inn & Beach Club, located at 40 Linden Avenue in Branford, Connecticut. Following the smash success of last year's sold-out WITNESS UGANDA: IN CONCERT, Jonathan Larson Award-winning composer Matt Gould will host the performance, featuring a cast of Broadway stars. WINDYWOO AND HER NAUGHTY PETS Reading Set for NYMF

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presents a developmental reading of Windywoo and Her Naughty Naughty Pets, a new musical based on the popular Naughty Naughty Pets franchise, featured on Cartoon Network and Disney's Hyperion Books for Children. The developmental readings will take place July 11 at 1pm and July 13 at 4pm and 7pm at the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street).

'Broadway Charity Songs' has paired a group of award-winning musical theatre composers with a group outstanding charities and tasked them with composing an original song inspired by the work of that charity. The result is a group of songs gifted to the charities - with the hope that the songs 'go viral' -- increasing awareness for these outstanding organizations.
