On Tuesday, July 15, during its Annual Meeting at McCaw Hall, Seattle Opera General Director Speight Jenkins announced that the company's Artist of the Year awards went to tenor Lawrence Brownlee, who performed the role of Arturo in Seattle Opera's production of Bellini's I Puritani in May 2008, and to Thomas Lynch, set designer for Seattle Opera's production of Wagner's Flying Dutchman in August 2007 and Seattle Opera's co-production with the Metropolitan Opera of Gluck's Iphigenia in Tauris in October 2007.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) announced New York premiere of Lisa Loomer's Distracted, directed by Mark Brokaw with Cynthia Nixon as 'Mama.' Distracted will begin performances in February 2009 at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street). This will be a limited engagement.

INTAR (Eduardo Machado, Artistic Director/John McCormack, Executive Director/Alina Troyano, Associate Artistic Director), will present the World Premiere of ALL EYES AND EARS a new play by Rogelio Martinez, directed by Eduardo Machado. ALL EYES AND EARS will begin previews on Wednesday, April 30th, with Opening Night set for Monday, May 5th at the Lion Theater on Theatre Row.

Obie winner and Tony Award nominee Reg Rogers will star in The Injured Party, a new comedy by Tony Award-winning playwright Richard Greenberg. Commissioned by SCR and directed by Trip Cullman, The Injured Party will receive its World Premiere at South Coast Repertory during the 11th annual Pacific Playwrights Festival. The show will run from April 20 through May 11, 2008 on the Julianne Argyros Stage. Low-priced previews are available from April 20 through April 24. Opening night is April 25. The American Theatre Wing's 'Working in the Theatre' will feature 'Directors on Directing' on CUNY TV on Sunday, March 2 at 5PM; with Anne Bogart, Scott Ellis and Daniel Sullivan.

The full cast and creative team have been announced for the Seattle Repertory production of Molière's The Imaginary Invalid at the Seattle Repertory Theatre, February 21-March 22. This production, which will open officially on February 27, will be directed by David Schweizer. The Imaginary Invalid, which has been adapted by Constance Congdon, centers around Argan (to be played by Rocco Sisto), a hypochondriac set on marrying off his daughter to a doctor as a solution for his growing medical bills.
