Arena Stage Presents THE ARABIAN NIGHTS 1/14-2/20/11

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater is delighted to present The Arabian Nights, written and directed by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman (Metamorphoses). The production, presented in association with Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Kansas City Repertory Theatre and Lookingglass Theatre Company, has been recognized as "Zimmerman's most theatrically complete and perfect creation" (Chicago Tribune).

Artists Rep Presents SUPERIOR DONUTS, 1/4-2/6

Sprinkled with chuckles and glazed with connections, Superior Donuts tells the story of how an unlikely friendship can emerge in the most unexpected places. In Chicago's diverse Uptown neighborhood, a downtrodden donut shop owner hires a street-savvy and aspiring young writer with hustle and bright ideas.

Mary Zimmerman's ARABIAN NIGHTS Returns to Berkeley Rep, 12/11

THE ARABIAN NIGHTS will play only 24 performances between December 11 and December 30. Tickets are on sale now exclusively to Berkeley Rep's subscribers and donors. Seats go on sale to the general public later this fall.

BWW Reviews: DANCING AT LUGHNASA at the Seattle Rep

The Seattle Rep is currently presenting Brian Friel's Irish familial saga, "Dancing at Lughnasa". And while the show has some lovely moments, the play as a whole seemed sluggish and uneven.

Group rep Inspecting Carol Once Again

Last mounted by Group rep in 2008, Daniel Sullivan's intelligent and very funny Inspecting Carol is a farcical look at a production of Dickens' A Christmas Carol by a regional theatre, in this case the fictional Soap Box Playhouse. Group rep's current superb cast make their second production of it a worthy view.

This holiday season, Berkeley Repertory Theatre presents a deliciously silly world premiere from beloved Bay Area artists: Lemony Snicket's The Composer is Dead begins previews in the Roda Theatre on November 26, opens December 2, and closes January 15.

5th Avenue Theatre Holds Black Friday Ticket Sale, 11/26

In honor of its 30th anniversary season, and just in time for holiday shopping, the 5th Avenue Theatre announces a 'Black Friday' ticket sale! On Friday, November 26, tickets for two musical gems from the 2010-11 season - Guys & Dolls and Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! - will be on sale for just $30 each. Customers can purchase tickets in all seating sections and all performance dates that are still available.

MTC Presents LIDLESS, 11/21

MTC's New Works Series presents staged readings of works by new and emerging playwrights. Lidless tells the story of Alice, an interrogator at Guantanamo 15 years ago. The beta-blockers she took during her service have left holes in her memories, a fact she welcomes so she can get on with the new life she has created with her husband and daughter. When Bashir, a former detainee dying of liver disease, arrives to confront Alice, she can't remember ever having seen his face. He refuses to let Alice deny her past, demanding shocking payment for the damage she wreaked on his body and soul during their interrogations. Lidless is a story about embracing one's true nature and the quest to re-humanize a world losing sight of its common humanity.

UT Department of Theatre and Dance Presents FIGHT 11/12-21

The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance presents the world-premiere of FIGHT, a new play by third-year MFA in Playwriting candidate, Kimber Lee and directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Technology, Charles Otte, and Lee.

Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre Presents KNOCK ME A KISS, 11/21

Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre will present Knock Me a Kiss by Charles Smith at their home at Henry Street Settlement's Abrons Arts Center/Recital Hall (466 Grand Street). Performances begin November 11th with Opening Night set for Sunday, November 21st. Performances continue through December 5th only. Chuck Smith directs a cast that features Erin Cherry, André De Shields, Gillian Glasco, Morocco Omari, Sean Phillips, and Marie Thomas. Knock Me a Kiss will have set design by Anthony Davidson, costume design by Ali Turns, lighting design by Shirley Prendergast, and sound design by Bill Toles.
