Sideshow Theatre Company, in association with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, will open its 2013-14 season with the Chicago premiere of 9 CIRCLES by Bill Cain, directed by Marti Lyons, playing August 29 - October 6, 2013 at The DCASE Storefront Theater, 66 E. Randolph St. in Chicago.
On July 10, the National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) announced it has received two significant grants that will help develop exciting new works for theatre and strengthen innovative theatre education programs at NCTF's theatres across the country. The Ford Foundation awarded $250,000 to five significant regional theatres celebrating their 50th anniversaries-Actors Theatre of Louisville, Guthrie Theater, Hartford Stage, Seattle Repertory Theatre, and Trinity Repertory Company through the National Corporate Theatre Fund. And The Hearst Foundations will award $100,000 to Impact Creativity which supports interdisciplinary and innovative theatre education programs at NCTF's 19 theatres, a critically important grant as arts education budgets are cut across the country.

Green and Marti Lyons. Sideshow's critically acclaimed 2012 production of Schimmelpfennig's Idomeneus earned the company a Jeff Award for Best Ensemble. Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the publication of This and Other Plays, the debut collection of plays by Obie Award-winning playwright Melissa James Gibson (This, Suitcase, [sic], Brooklyn Bridge). The works of this 'thoroughly original talent' (Newsday) have been developed and produced at Center Theater Group, Playwrights Horizons, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Soho Rep, Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Playwrights Horizons, among others.

Berkshire Playwrights Lab will present its first full workshop production, Anna Ziegler's Life Science directed by Joe Cacaci, June 19 through June 30 (press opening June 21) at Bard College at Simon's Rock Daniel Arts Center (84 Alford Road, Great Barrington, Mass.). The production will run Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm, with the exception of the Saturday, June 22 performance, which will begin at 9:30pm.
Arizona Theatre Company announced today that David Ira Goldstein, ATC's Artistic Director since 1992, will be leaving the Company in December of 2013. In his 21 seasons as artistic director, Goldstein led the Company to unprecedented levels of attendance, critical acclaim, community support, educational outreach and national prominence. During his tenure, he produced over 200 plays, workshops, readings and presentations in Phoenix and Tucson, while personally directing more than 40 mainstage productions ranging from classics to new plays to musicals.

The Guthrie today announced that eight artists who have graced the Guthrie's stages during its 50-year history, from the first season in 1963 to the theater's current season, are slated to participate in the Guthrie's 50th anniversary on June 22, 2013. Exclusive interviews with the legendary Zoe Caldwell and Christopher Plummer will be unveiled as part of a poignant and celebratory multi-media tribute, while stage veterans Barbara Bryne, Peter Michael Goetz and Stephen Yoakam; two graduates of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program, Matthew Amendt and Valeri Mudek; and an alum of A Guthrie Experience for Actors in Training, Erik Heger; will perform live for the one-night-only event.

Seattle Repertory Theatre's full 2013-2014 season was announced today by Artistic Director Jerry Manning. The new season features three world premieres by Northwest writers, two Broadway hits, and the addition of an American classic into the theatre's repertoire. The season will run from September 2013-June 2014.
On April 29th at New York City's Pierre Hotel, the National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) honored Vanessa Williams, American Express and five resident theatres celebrating their 50th anniversary - Actors Theatre of Louisville, Guthrie Theater, Hartford Stage, Seattle Repertory Theatre and Trinity Repertory Company - at NCTF's annual Chairman's Awards Gala.
