Seattle Repertory Theatre's 2014 New Play Festival opens today Oct. 17 and runs through October 26, 2014.

The star-studded Broadway production of the backstage comedy It's Only A Play, by 4-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, opened on October 9, 2014, at Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street). The Colony Theatre will present the third production of its historic 40thAnniversary season, the West Coast Premiere of HANDLE WITH CARE by Jason Odell Williams, directed by Karen Carpenter. HANDLE WITH CARE will preview on Wednesday, November 5; Thursday, November 6; andFriday, November 7 at 8:00pm. It will open on Saturday, November 8 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, December 14, with no performances Thanksgiving week.

Cornish College of the Arts, in association with the Seattle Beckett Festival and Seattle University, presents master actor and clown Bill Irwin for an evening of performance and conversation about the works of dramatist Samuel Beckett. Irwin will perform selections from Beckett's canon and discuss his work on the major plays and adaptations with Marcie Sillman, KUOW senior host.

Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) has announced Joyce Degenfelder as the 2013 recipient of the Gregory A. Falls Sustained Achievement Award. The committee of prior recipients has made this selection to honor her dedication to the Seattle theatre community. This award, along with 19 others, will be presented at the 6th Annual Gregory Awards held at The Moore Theatre on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 7:30pm.

The World premiere of Sam Wallin's futuristic murder mystery about Detective Cloud sifting through others memories, including his own, to solve a murder in a corporate virtual world where nothing is ever as it appears.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre announces that the City of Berkeley has proclaimed Tuesday, September 30, 2014 Tony Taccone Day. This day will honor Berkeley Rep's Michael Leibert Artistic Director Tony Taccone as a pioneer in contemporary American theatre. Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates will host a ceremony to present Taccone an official proclamation between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The ceremony will be broadcast on local radio through KPFB Radio 89.3 and on television through Cable B-TV, Channel 33.

On Saturday, September 20th, arts leaders and teenage arts enthusiasts gathered at EMP Museum to celebrate TeenTix's 10th anniversary at the 6th annual Teeny Awards, hosted by writer and performer Lindy West.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival's (OSF) production of Into the Woods will move to Beverly Hills, Calif., as part of the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts' 2014-15 season. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, Into the Woods runs through October 11 in OSF's outdoor Allen Elizabethan Theatre before heading to the Wallis' Bram Goldsmith Theater December 2-21, 2014.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company officially opens their 2014-2015 season with the highly anticipated production of the Regional Premiere of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 'The Great Gatsby' adapted for the stage by Simon Levy. This production is directed by Cincinnati Shakespeare's Producing Artistic Director, Brian Isaac Phillips and features Cincinnati Shakespeare's Resident Ensemble of actors including Jared Joplin, Justin McCombs, Sara Clark and Kelly Mengelkoch. Cincinnati Shakespeare Company officially opens their 2014-2015 season with the highly anticipated production of the Regional Premiere of F. For the sixth year, Seattle's TeenTix, an arts access and engagement program for teenagers, has announced the nominees for its annual Teeny Awards. Like a Teen Choice Awards for local arts events and organizations, the Teeny Awards aim to empower teen arts audiences and to recognize those organizations that have done an especially good job of welcoming young people over the past year.

Seattle Repertory Theatre announced today the appointment of Marya Sea Kaminski as Associate Artistic Director, effective Sept.16, 2014. Kaminski, who most recently taught acting at Cornish College of the Arts, has appeared as an actor and solo performer throughout Seattle and beyond, including roles at the Rep in My Name is Rachel Corrie (2007) and Clybourne Park (2012).

On Saturday, September 6th, Everyman Theatre welcomes seasoned theatrical professionals for its panel discussion entitled "Waiting in the Wings." The panel is a part of the discussion series, The World of the Play, which began during the 2013/14 season.
