NBC and Columbia Records announced that the soundtrack for Bombshell, the musical within NBC's Golden Globe-nominated series television hit 'SMASH' (Tuesdays, 10-11pm ET), will be released on February 12. Bombshell is available now for pre-order.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, SMASH creator and executive producer Steven Spielberg spoke about the popular NBC musical drama. 'Here's what's great about Smash,' he asserted, ' - it's not a procedural, it's not medical, it's not cops, it's not legal eagles, it isn't a sitcom. So it does defy what is commercial and popular today.'

TVGuide reports that more original music and lyrics from the award-winning team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman is on the way for the upcoming second season of NBC's SMASH. The site confirms that the duo has 'composed tunes for other faux Broadway shows that will compete with Bombshell for ticket sales as the Marilyn Monroe-themed production nears its premiere.'

Entertainment superstar Liza Minnelli - winner of an Oscar, two Golden Globes, a Grammy, an Emmy and multiple Tony Awards - will guest-star as herself in NBC's musical drama SMASH in the upcoming season, and will sing an original song with series star Christian Borle that was written by the show's celebrated composer and lyricists Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. TV Land has ordered a second season of 'The Soul Man' starring Cedric 'The Entertainer' and Niecy Nash and picked up a third season of 'The Exes,' it was announced today by Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land. 'The Soul Man,' which debuted in June of this year, was the channel's second highest rated original series premiere following only the series launch of 'Hot in Cleveland' in June 2010.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations for the 2013 Golden Globes Awards this morning, live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Among the nominations was the hit NBC musical drama SMASH, which was given a nod for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical.
