The Poets' Theatre has announced that it is reorganizing and planning to present a full season of programming in 2014-2015. This historic Cambridge based organization will be led by Robert Scanlan, as President and Artistic Director, Benjamin Evett as the new Producing Artistic Director, and David Gullette as Literary Director. Scanlan, Evett, and Gullette have been charged by the Board of Directors to bring The Poets' Theatre back to prominence after more than a decade of inactivity. They will professionalize the company, create valuable partnerships with other organizations, and develop the resources to allow the theatre to present top quality productions in a regular and sustainable manner.

Dylan Coburn Gray's "Boys and Girls" and the groundbreaking production of Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" in Yiddish -- open the 7th annual Origin's 1st Irish Festival on September 3 and 4. In all four US premieres and seven world premieres will be seen in the month-long festival running through September 28.

Marvellous by Matt Minnicino, directed by Elizabeth Nearing, will have its world premiere at The Theater at the 14th St Y (located at 344 E 14th St) as a part of the NYC International Fringe Festival this summer. There are five performances on Friday 8/8 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday 8/9 at 6:15 p.m.; Tuesday 8/12 at 9:00 p.m.; Thursday 8/14 at 3:45 p.m.; Friday 8/15 at 4:00p.m. Tickets are $18, available through the FringeNYC website (www.fringenyc.org)

King Lear's fate is sealed in Shakespeare's play: to be tragically reunited with the one daughter he loves. But what would be the fate of his faithful Fool? That question lies at the heart of 'The Fool's Lear,' a new play by Randy Neale, which will have its New York premiere May 5 to 25 as a featured production of Phoenix Theatre Ensemble's Tenth Anniversary Spring Rep season at The Wild Project 195 E. 3rd Street (at Ave. B). This new, funny, poignant comedic drama follows the journey of the Fool and his King as they ply a path along side Shakespeare's great tragedy, exploring hilarious and harrowing byways between its scenes. Grant Neale directs and plays The Fool and Craig Smith plays The King in a play which South Carolina critics called a delight and a must-see comic drama.

Off-Broadway's award-winning Irish Repertory Theatre announces that it will pay tribute to Nobel Prize-winning Irish poet, playwright and lecturer Seamus Heaney (April 13, 1939 - August 30, 2013) with REMEMBERING SEAMUS: A CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE AND WORK OF SEAMUS HEANEY which will take place today, November 4th at 7 PM at the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street).

Moonrise Press is pleased to announce the publication of a volume of poetry inspired by a six-and-a-half-day ordeal of Ed Rosenthal, a Poet-Broker, who survived alone after being lost in the Mojave Desert in September 2010. An experienced hiker, he unexpectedly veered far away from his usual route and could not find his way back. While in Salvation Canyon, he was several times missed by search-and-rescue aircraft and helicopters, and finally, miraculously, was found by San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputies. The wry, surreal, and reflective poems in 'The Desert Hat: Survival Poems' describe the spiritual trajectory of a survivor living through a close encounter with death, starting from alienation in a corporate urban environment and ending with the post-trauma reflections about life and natural environment. The book consists of 36 poems organized in four sections, reflecting the distinct stages in the spiritual and personal journey, from getting off track, through searching for a way back, through hallucinations in a hostile desert environment, finding shelter in the shade of Salvation Canyon, to being rescued and experiencing the world after the return from the brink of death. The title alludes to a canvas hat that Rosenthal used as a notebook and helped the lost poet control his thoughts, capture emotions, and write down his last will and a farewell to his wife and daughter. Eliot, who kept their day jobs at a seeming distance from their poetry, 'Poet/Broker' employed poetry as a tool in commercial real estate. Rosenthal's 'Poetic Request for 30 day Extension of Contingencies' was cited in the Los Angeles Times for enabling a redevelopment project. Seamus Heaney, Irish poet, playwright, translator, lecturer and recipient of the 1995 Nobel Prize in Literature, has died at the age of 74.
