Thursday night at Feinstein's/54 Below, Scott Siegel--the busiest cabaret show producer in town--hosted a tribute to Cole Porter's classic musical, Kiss Me Kate, as part of the 2015 BroadwayWorld Award-nominated 54 Below Sings . . . series. With Siegel at the lectern filling in plot, Musical Director Ross Patterson on piano, and contributions by The Broadway By the Year Chorus, the evening was vivacious and fun.

Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you some cabaret highlights for this week as picked by our theatre editors, including: Neil Bartram: 'New Songs for a New Year'; Broadway Is A Drag: Celebrating Drag Queens for BC/EFA; Lorna Luft at 54 Below; 54 Sings Kiss Me Kate; and Melba Moore: I Got Love.
The famous songs of Cole Porter's greatest show come to life once again in a special concert performance of the 1948 Broadway smash hit. Kiss Me Kate was Cole Porter's biggest hit show; it was his longest running Broadway production and his favorite creation. Audiences have consistently agreed! With songs like "So In Love," "Too Darn Hot," "Were Thine That Special Face" and "Brush Up Your Shakespeare," Kiss Me Kate has always been one of Broadway's most beloved musicals. It won the very first Tony Award for Best Musical and when it was revived, it won Best Revival of Musical.

For the third installment of his New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits--a wonderful new monthly series at the Metropolitan Room celebrating award winning and critically acclaimed cabaret shows of the past--Producer Stephen Hanks (and his Cabaret Life Productions) wisely chose Maxine Linehan's What Would Petula Do? A Tribute to Petula Clark. Although this show won no awards, nor received critical acclaim in 2009 (when I first saw it at the Laurie Beechman Theatre), Linehan's revival this past Monday night of one of her first cabaret shows could certainly be considered one the best of this or any year.
Accomplished musical producer Scott Siegel will bring the glamour of Broadway to the newly renovated Rosen Performing Arts Center at a Nov. 14 gala benefitting the Wayne YMCA.
The final night of this year's estimable Cabaret Convention, What I Did for Love/Taking a Chance on Love, hosted by Klea Blackhurst, saluted composer/songwriter Vernon Duke in Act I and composer/conductor Marvin Hamlisch during Act II. It was a curious pairing, indeed.
Cabaret sensation Maxine Linehan will perform songs from her latest album, Beautiful Songs, at Broadway's supper club Feinstein's/54 Below (254 West 54th Street, Cellar) at 9:30 p.m. tonight, October 17. Featuring a variety of music - from standards like 'Danny Boy' to original songs, including 'I Think Of You,' by Andrew Koss, the show encapsulates Linehan's versatility and marks her solo debut at the newly renamed Feinstein's/54 Below. The show is created and directed by Scott Siegel, who also directed Broadway by the Year at The Town Hall and has directed Michael Feinstein.
