The Oregon Shakespeare Festival invites the public to its 30th annual Daedalus Project, a benefit for HIV/AIDS organizations. The 2017 Daedalus Project, themed "On a Wing and a Prayer: Witnessing 30 Years," includes a full day of fund-raising activities on Monday, Aug. 21, culminating in the Daedalus Play Reading of Cabaret and the Daedalus Variety Show, which are both likely to sell out.
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival invites audiences to "be our guest" for a Falstaffian romp through merry old Windsor; a heroic, Homeric journey home to Ithaka; and a revelatory musical journey of self-discovery when its outdoor theatre opens the weekend of June 16-18. The Allen Elizabethan Theatre will feature The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by Dawn Monique Williams; The Odyssey, adapted and directed by Mary Zimmerman; and Disney's Beauty and the Beast, directed by Eric Tucker. Directed by Bill Rauch, the drama focuses on the two women at the heart of the landmark Roe v. Wade case-plaintiff Norma McCorvey and her attorney Sarah Weddington-and documents their shockingly divergent journeys following the case, that would come to mirror the polarization in American culture. Roe is a co-production with Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Berkeley Repertory Theatre and runs January 12-February 19, 2017 in the Kreeger Theater.
