Orange County, Calif.—Nov. 5, 2015—The young and highly talented Pacific Symphony Santiago Strings (PSSS) and Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble (PSYWE) are preparing to launch their first concerts of the 2015-16 season. First, the talented brass, woodwind and percussion musicians of PSYWE breeze onto the stage to perform a selection of European classics from the wind ensemble canon on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m., in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. The program, “Europa,” features Rimsky-Korsakov's “Procession of the Nobles,” Grainger's “Lincolnshire Posy” and Walton's “Crown Imperial.” Then, PSSS celebrates its 25th anniversary and pays tribute to its founder, Lonie Bosserman, whose dream it was to create a middle-school string ensemble, by performing dream-like music for “Fantasize This!,” taking place Sunday, Nov. 22, at 4 p.m., at Friends Church in Yorba Linda.

On December 1, The Aviva Players will conclude its 40th Anniversary three-part concert series at The National Opera America Center, 330 Seventh Ave. (at 29th Street), Manhattan with THAT CERTAIN AGE: SHORT OPERAS ABOUT AGING WITH HUMOR AND GRACE. The evening is presented by Aviva Players and Kindred Spirits. Director is Rina W. Elisha and musical director is Barbara Ames. The evening will feature works composed by Anne Phillips, Alice Shields, Mira j Spektor, Haim Elisha and Seymour Barab. On November 2, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) celebrated the 2014-2015 season's Joe A. Callaway Award winners for Direction and Choreography.

The Public Theater is presenting First Daughter Suite, a world premiere musical by Michael John LaChiusa. Directed by Kirsten Sanderson, First Daughter Suite began previews on Tuesday, October 6 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, November 15. It will now run an additional week through Sunday, November 22. Ghostlight Records recently recorded the original cast recording ofFirst Daughter Suite to be released later this season.
