Broadway veteran Obba Babatundé will star as Sammy Davis, Jr. in the world premiere of Sammy.

Broadway veteran Obba Babatundé is set to star as Sammy Davis, Jr. in the world premiere of Sammy, Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto announced today. The new musical is based on the life of Davis with book, music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, and additional songs by Bricusse and Anthony Newley.

The Guthrie will present the world premiere production of Super Monkey by award-winning theater-maker Jon Ferguson, September 17 - October 4 in the Dowling Studio. Single tickets are priced from $18 to $30, with a limited number of premium tickets available for opening night.

The American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards® celebration of excellence in the theatre includes recognition of winners and nominees in the 27 competitive categories. The Tony Awards® administrative committee also celebated the honorees for the four non-competitive categories which were presented at the 2009 Tony Awards Sunday, June 7th. The Tony Administration Committee revealed the names of a quartet of honorees who are to be recognized in the four non-competitive Tony categories. Composer/lyricist Jerry Herman, Virginia's Signature Theatre, and longtime press agent Shirley Herz will be honored at the 63rd annual Tony Awards ceremony on June 7. Actress/writer Phyllis Newman will receive the newest Tony Award for her volunteer work as an advocate for women's health.

Desert Star Theatre, the family playhouse that's been making audiences laugh for over two decades, is pleased to announce its 2010 season. The line-up includes parodies of two bestselling book series that have gone on to become blockbuster movies, as well as the return of Utah's longest running show. Season tickets go on sale June 9.
