SHREK the Musical plays the Music Hall through Jan.16.

DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions, Ltd. are pleased to announce that SHREK THE MUSICAL with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, directed by Jason Moore and Rob Ashford, will play Tennessee Performing Arts Center , January 25 through 30.

An entirely new work, SHREK THE MUSICAL is based on the story and characters from William Steig's book Shrek!, as well as the DreamWorks Animation film Shrek, the first chapter of the Shrek movie series. SHREK THE MUSICAL tells the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his land. Joined by a wise-cracking donkey, this unlikely hero fights a fearsome dragon, rescues a feisty princess and learns that real friendship and true love aren't only found in fairy tales. The national tour of the production recently kicked off and is now underway. The official Facebook page for SHREK THE MUSICAL has announced that 'First up: he may be small in size (a mere 4 feet, 10 inches), but he makes up for it in tyranny! It's, Lord Farquaad, who will be played by Todd Buonopane. Todd has appeared in the Broadway production of 'Grease' and has also made TV appearances on '30 Rock' & 'Law & Order: CI.' We can be sure to expect BIG things from... this little dictator of Duloc.'
