BWW Review: L.A. Ballet Gloriously Celebrates BALANCHINE: MASTER OF THE DANCE

Balanchine choreographed 425 works over the course of 60-plus years, and his works are considered masterpieces and performed by ballet companies all over the world. So you can image how thrilled I was to find out Los Angeles Ballet was going to present BALANCHINE: MASTER OF THE DANCE as their final selection of their 2016/2017 season. In it, three of his most outstanding ballet choreographies are presented: Divertimento No. 15 featuring music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Prodigal Son with music by Sergei Prokofiev; and Who Cares? with music by George Gershwin, adapted and orchestrated by Hershy Kay.

Theatre of NOTE announces two world premieres plays running in repertory-RED HELEN,written by Jennifer Barclay and directed by Bill Voorhees & SUPPER, written by Phinneas Kiyomura and directed by Alina Phelan. RED HELEN will preview Friday, March 24 at 8pm, and will open on Thursday, March 30 at 8pm and run through Saturday, May 20, 2017. . SUPPER will preview Saturday, April 1 at 8pm, and will open on Thursday, April 6 at 8pm and run through Saturday, May 20, 2017 - both at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N Cahuenga Blvd (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood.

Drama Desk Award-winning actress and singer Rachel York (Disaster!, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Victor/Victoria) embarks on a 10-city concert tour from December, 2016 through April, 2017 beginning with Michael Feinstein's American Songbook at NJPAC! December 1. York joins Feinstein, Andrea McArdle, Jared Grimes, and Youth Songbook Ambassador Julia Goodwin at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark for a cabaret and Q&A featuring favorite American standards. National New Play Network Names 2016-17 Grant Recipients

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announced its 2016-17 grant recipients, including the 2016 Smith Prize for Political Theatre, four Producer Residencies, and four Collaboration Fund awards that will support partnerships between multiple Member Theaters, playwrights, and other theater makers in various projects.
