Bryn Mawr College's Performing Arts Series moves into high gear for the 2011-2012 season as it presents five music, dance, and theatre performances that have never been seen or heard in the region. The season begins with a celebrated Celtic singer, the Philadelphia area premiere of a highly touted one-man New York theatre sensation, and a renowned classical quartet. The season will close with the remount of a groundbreaking John Jasperse Company piece and a rare performance with the women of the exhilarating Rennie Harris Puremovement, in a program put together just for the college.

On July 8, 2011 Theatre Pro Rata will open Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett at the historic and abandoned Hollywood Theater, in Northeast Minneapolis.

Villanova Theatre is thrilled to announce that David Cregan, O.S.A., Ph.D. has been named Chair of the Theatre Department of Villanova University. Himself an alumnus of Villanova (BA '89), Fr. David is an associate professor of Theatre, and also teaches for the English Department. Before entering the Augustinian Order, Cregan spent four years in New York City working as a professional actor. He earned his Ph.D. in Drama Studies from the Samuel Beckett School of Drama at Trinity College in Dublin; his M.A. in Irish Studies from the Catholic University of America; his M.Phil in Irish Theatre and Film from Trinity; and his M.Div. from the Washington Theological Union. According to Cregan, his scholarly and artistic journey began here at Villanova, on the same campus where he currently teaches, directs, and celebrates Mass.

The Neo-Futurists announce their 23rd season to include Chalk and Saltwater: The Ladder Project by John Pierson, Burning Bluebeard by Jay Torrence, and The Strange and Terrible True Story of Pinocchio (the wooden boy) as Told by Frankenstein's Monster (the wretched creature) by Greg Allen. Also on the books is another great year of the smash hit, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind.

Directed by Terrence Montgomery, Fuel is making its World Premiere at the 12th annual Midtown International Theatre Festival.

Hot off a national tour of Ireland, Dermot Bolger's highly acclaimed new play 'The Parting Glass' transfers to New York's Barrow Street Theatre beginning Wednesday July 20 for a limited engagement.

Carrie Preston (HBO's 'True Blood') is directing a benefit reading of OUR DAVID by Ian Mairs, starring Denis O'Hare (HBO's 'True Blood') and Broadway veteran Sloane Shelton for The Hetrick-Martin Institute, Home of the Harvey Milk High School. The show will be presented at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at the Samuel Beckett Theatre, located on Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street) in Midtown Manhattan.

British playwright Joe Orton's classic dark comedy ENTERTAINING MR. SLOANE, hits Los Angeles this June for a four week run at the Actors Company theater. The play, which originally debuted in London in 1964, tells a sexy, suspenseful, and often humorous story that continues to captivate and surprise audiences today. Director Stan Zimmerman leads an ensemble cast which includes: Ian Buchanan (The Bold and the Beautiful), Olivia d'Abo (THE WONDER YEARS), Emrhys Cooper (We Will Rock You) and Robin Gammell (NIP/TUCK).

The Abreact Performance Space embarks upon its eleventh season of contemporary/original/black box theatre. Season 11 features four shows in total, of which two are locally written original comedies, book-ended by two contemporary pieces by masters in their own right.

The New Group and Tectonic Theater Project proudly present One Arm, set to play May 19 - July 2 in a limited Off-Broadway engagement marking a New York premiere. Based on a short story and unproduced screenplay by Tennessee Williams, One Arm is adapted for the stage and directed by Moisés Kaufman.
