The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is delighted to announce seven new performances to its world premiere production of The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz: The Musical, based on the novel by Mordecai Richler, with book and lyrics by David Spencer and an original music by eight-time Oscar winning composer Alan Menken.
The Segal Centre will close its blockbuster 2014-2015 Theatre Season with The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz: The Musical, a world premiere musical adaptation of Mordecai Richler's novel and the feature film by the same name, from June 7-28, 2015. This new production boasts an original musical score by Alan Menken, the legendary Oscar and Tony winning composer of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, with book and lyrics by acclaimed lyricist-librettist David Spencerand direction by American theatre veteran Austin Pendleton. What do you get when you mix 14 playwrights, 50 performers doing 30 plays in 18 days? This year's 7th Annual Left Out Festival, a tasty, spiked punch full of plays about Cowboy Bars, OraQuick, Homophobia, Tap-Dancing Lesbians, Cartoons, Plastic Bags, Bullying, Showbiz, Racism, Murder, Lesbian Camp Counselors and (gasp!) Narcissism all stirred with a Big Gay Swizzle Stick. The fun begins on April 14th and continues through May 5th at Stage Left Studio, 214 West 30th St. 6th floor. As always, The Left Out Festival proceeds will benefit Bailey House.

AMC, IFC and SUNDANCE TV are broadcasting the special as a roadblock on those networks tonight, March 26 at 9:00AM EDT/ 10:00AM CDT, which coincides with the opening night of New York Spring Spectacular.
