As part of its popular Summertime Saturday Puppet Show Series of new works by UConn Puppet Arts students and alumni for family audiences, the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will present Sweven by Puppet Arts MFA student Anatar Marmol-Gagne on Saturday, July 15 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Ballard Institute Theater located at 1 Royce Circle, Storrs Center.

One of the potential hurdles is whether or not to change or alter the play to make it 'more accessible' to modern audiences. Some will argue that no such changes need to ever happen because the plays are as accessible and relatable today as they have always been. Others say modern audiences need help to grasp the play's language and its meaning. Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park is taking on these challenges in their rollicking and entertaining production of Taming of the Shrew, now playing on the stage at the Myriad Botanical Gardens.

Children's Theatre Company (CTC) announces the casting for the premiere of The Abominables, the first Minnesota hockey musical produced in association with The Civilians, written and directed by Steve Cosson with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman and choreography by Joe Chvala. Ryan Bourque (son of Ray Bourque) will serve as Fight and Hockey Choreographer (Ryan is a former Rangers player and current Hershey Bears player).
