Directed and edited by Tarell Alvin McCraney, The Public's ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA is an international collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Miami's Gable Stage. Performances will begin on April 14th with an opening night set for May 1st at The Public Theater's LuEsther Hall (425 Lafayette Street, New York City) for an open-ended commercial run. The principal cast from the 2013 world premiere of Here Lies Love returns, including Ruthie Ann Miles and Jose Llana as Imelda and Ferdinand Marcos, and Conrad Ricamora as Ninoy Aquino.

This week there will be two lab presentations in New York City of the new musical, BEHIND THE PAINTING, with book and lyrics by Tony Award-winner Richard Maltby, Jr., music by two-time Tony nominee David Shire, adapted from the Thai musical of the same title, based on the novel by Sriburapha.

In a one night only performance in New York City on Monday night, the disco musical 'Here Lies Love' concert for the Philippines raised more than $100,000 to benefit the survivors of supertyphoon Haiyan.

Featuring music by Jeanine Tesori, book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, and based on Alison Bechdel book, Fun Home will run through Sunday, November 17. According to the New York Times, The Public Theater's critically acclaimed Here Lies Love, with concept and lyrics by David Byrne, music by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, still might have a future life following its run this past spring, but plans to remount the musical have been delayed until next year.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced additional casting and creatives for the 25th Annual Festival of New Musicals on Thursday, October 17 and Friday, October 18 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

The Public Theater's production of the new musical LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, the second show of The Public's 2013 free Shakespeare in the Park season at the Delacorte, recently began previews on July 23. Directed by Alex Timbers, LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST features songs by Michael Friedman with book adaptation by Timbers and will run through Sunday, August 18, and opened last night, August 12. Claridad, Carol Angeli and Maria-Christina Oliveras engaged in a public conversation about the infamous legacy of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos and his wife, Imelda, during a coffee break (kapihan) held at Ugly Kitchen in the East Village Saturday, July 20.

HERE LIES LOVE is set to close at the Public Theater's downtown home on Sunday night, and the theater company is looking into 'design options for an array of theater spaces and negotiating with Broadway and downtown theater producers about remounting the show in the near future,' according to The New York Times. Oskar Eustis told NYT that an announcement about the show's future could come as early as next month.

As BroadwayWorld previously confirmed, HERE LIES LOVE's artistic director Oskar Eustis is currently in talks to deliver the musical a 'future life' - and according to Baz Bamigboye at The Daily Mail, that may mean a 2014 West End transfer for The Public Theater's breakout production.
