Sondheim classic musical is given a rousing production under Signature Theatre's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer

The Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre, nationally known for its interpretation of Stephen Sondheim musicals, celebrates its 20th anniversary season by presenting Sondheim's most popular musical SWEENEY TODD, directed by Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. The new production runs in the 276-seat MAX Theater, February 9 through April 4, 2010.

Artists from the Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area will be performing in a benefit cabaret to raise much needed funds for the victims of the recent devastating earthquake in the country of Haiti.

There are two things you should know about me: I am a musical theatre lover, and I love to schmooze with actors and composers. Signature Theatre today announced that Andrew Call will sing the role of the student revolutionary Marius in its upcoming production of Les Misérables. He will replace Doug Kreeger, who will be performing in the new off-Broadway production of Rooms. Call recently performed in Signature's world premiere production of Glory Days, playing the role of the would-be jock Andy. Call has also performed in Cry-Baby and High Fidelity on Broadway, in Altar Boyz off-Broadway, and in national tours of Saturday Night Fever and Altar Boyz.

Toby's original version of Phantom of the Opera, written by local artists, plays at the Baltimore location through November 16.
