One of the most popular and longest running performance events in the country, FronteraFest, returns for its 24th year.

The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), in association with hip-hop icon Russell Simmons and Rabbi Marc Schneier, presents a cross-cultural exploration of African-American and Yiddish music at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place, on Sunday January 15 at 2pm. Conceived and directed by NYTF Artistic Director Zalmen Mlotek, the popular concert commemorates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2017.

A collaboration between Hyde Park Theatre and ScriptWorks, the Fest runs from January 17th through February 18th (Short Fringe, featuring pieces 25 minutes or less) at Hyde Park Theatre, 511 West 43rd Street,  (B.Y.O.V., Bring Your Own Venue) January 25th - February 5th, held at multiple locations and Mi Casa es Su Teatro for one day only on February 11th primarily in private homes (see website to purchase tickets, view full schedule and location details www.hydeparktheatre.org). The Long Fringe, which traditionally hosted pieces over 45 minutes has been canceled for the first time, due to the theatrical venue crisis in Austin. 

Harlem Stage presents the world premiere of Meshell Ndegeocello's Can I Get a Witness? The Gospel of James Baldwin, a new theatrical music and art work commissioned by Harlem Stage through its WaterWorks program, tonight, December 7, through December 11.

Comedian, actor, director and producer Martin Lawrence returns with his first stand-up tour in four years - DOIN' TIME: UNCUT LIVE - playing Newark's Prudential Center in his only area performance on Sunday, December 11 at 8 p.m. Lawrence has made a triumphant homecoming to the stand-up stage, wowing audiences with his signature style of hilarious stories, social commentary and more.

Acrobatic performers from Cirque de la Symphonie are coming to the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera stage for a one night only special event on Today, October 28 at Memorial Auditorium. Cirque's troupe of exceptional artists-aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers and strongmen-will perform on stage as the Orchestra performs classical favorites. CSO Music Director Kayoko Dan conducts.

Manhattan Theatre Club's New York premiere of Vietgone, the new play by Qui Nguyen (She Kills Monsters), directed by May Adrales (Luce), begins previews tonight, October 4, in advance of a Tuesday, October 25 opening night at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street).

Actors Billy Magnussen, Michael Chernus, Will Rogers and Staceyann Chin have joined the Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) 2016 ONE Brooklyn Community MTA Campaign, which launched on September 7 in 36 Brooklyn subway stations, featuring stylized posters illustrating a diverse, hip and eclectic group of Brooklyn movers and shakers who are advocating for poor and low-income Brooklyn residents.
