ROCK OF AGES will soon become Hollywood's Biggest Party as filming recently began in Miami, Florida for the New Line Cinema Film. Directed by Adam Shankman, the film stars Tom Cruise as 'Stacee Jaxx,' Diego Boneta as 'Drew,' Julianne Hough as 'Sherrie,' Russell Brand as 'Lonny,' Alec Baldwin as 'Dennis,' Mary J. Blige as 'Justice,' Brian Cranston as the Mayor, Malin Ackerman as 'Constance Sack,' Catherine Zeta-Jones as the wife of the Mayor and Paul Giamatti as 'Paul Gill.'

Shankman Enlists HAIRSPRAY Creative Team & More for ROCK OF AGES Flick; Production Now Underway in Sunshine State

New Line Cinema's film adaptation of the smash hit Broadway musical 'Rock of Ages' has begun principal photography under the direction of Adam Shankman ('Hairspray'). The movie musical stars Julianne Hough ('Burlesque'), with actor/singer Diego Boneta in his feature film debut, Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti ('Cinderella Man'), Russell Brand ('Arthur,' 'Get Him to the Greek'), R&B queen Mary J. Blige, Malin Akerman ('The Proposal'), multiple Emmy winner Bryan Cranston (TV's 'Breaking Bad,' 'The Lincoln Lawyer') and Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones ('Chicago'), with Oscar nominees Alec Baldwin ('The Cooler') and Tom Cruise ('Born on the Fourth of July').

VH1 To Air17th Annual 'Critics' Choice Movie Awards' January 12, 2012

VH1 announced today that it will air the 17th annual 'Critics' Choice Movie Awards' on Thursday, January 12 at 9:00 PM ET/PT. This year marks the first year that the show will be held on a Thursday and the fifth straight year the network will televise the event. In addition, Den of Thieves will produce for the second year with Jesse Ignjatovic serving as executive produce for the third year.

Baldwin Back in ROCK OF AGES Film for Good

Deadline.com reports that the 'is he in or is he out' chatter surrounding Alec Baldwin's participation in the Rock of Ages film can be put to rest, as the actor is back on track to fulful the role of nightclub owner Dennis Dupree. Earlier this week, The star had been said to have withdrawn for unspecified personal reasons, however announcements from New Line Cinema and his appearance on set at the read through yesterday seemed to indicate otherwise. He is set to begin shooting on May 23.

Malin Akerman Joins ROCK OF AGES Movie!

According to Deadline.com, Malin Akerman has joined the cast of the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of ROCK OF AGES. Akerman will play Constance, 'a journalist who intends to write an expose on decadent rocker Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise).' Director Adam Shankan previously offered the role to both ANne Hathaway and Amy Adams.

Bryan Cranston Joins ROCK OF AGES FIlm

'Breaking Bad's' Bryan Cranston is set to play the mayor in the upcoming 'Rock of Ages' film, to be directed by Shankman and based on the Broadway musical, according to Deadline.com. Cranston will play the husband of an advocate who wants to ban rock and roll. That role will be played by Catherine Zeta-Jones and both were created specifically for the movie.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Adam Shankman has created a role for Catherine Zeta Jone in the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of ROCK OF AGES. JOne, who is currently in final negotiations for the film, will play a villian character described by Shankman as: 'if Tipper Gore and Anita Bryant had a love child. She is this hardcore, moral majority, arch-conservative who wants to shut down rock'n roll in the great city of Los Angeles.'
