Belgrade Theatre Announces Successful Applicant to Young Director Scheme

The Belgrade Theatre is one of just five theatre companies across England to join up with the Regional Theatre Young Director Scheme (RTYDS) to offer training opportunities and nurture new talent within the industry. RTYDS is the country's longest running and most influential training scheme for young directors, and has helped launch the careers of Ken Loach, John Tiffany, Vicky Featherstone and Rupert Goold amongst others.

Polka Theatre to Present BABE, THE SHEEP-PIG Before Launching National Tour!

Meet the little pig with big dreams in Polka's new stage adaptation of Dick King-Smith's much loved novel Babe, The Sheep-Pig. Featuring stunning puppetry, original music and a charming 'baa-ber sheep' quartet, Babe, the Sheep-Pig runs on Polka's Main Stage from 25 Nov 2016 - 5 Feb 2017 for the whole family ages 5 and up. With a subsequent national tour throughout 2017, this is Polka's biggest ever production.

The Evening Standard Theatre Awards, established in 1955, are presented annually for outstanding achievements in London Theatre, and this year's nominations longlist has just been announced. Sponsored by the Evening Standard newspaper, this year's shortlist will be revealed on October 24, and winners on November 13, 2016.

Consortium Led by Tiata Fahodzi Wins ACE Sustained Theatre Fund

A consortium led by tiata fahodzi has been awarded Arts Council England's Sustained Theatre Fund, designed to support the development of established and emerging Black and minority ethnic theatre makers and to increase their representation across the wider theatre sector.

Yesterday UK Theatre gave out awards to leading talents in performing, producing and theatre management throughout the United Kingdom. Sheffield Theatres' SHOW BOAT and FLOWERS FOR MRS HARRIS together took Best Musical Production, while Clare Burt picked up a performance award for the former and Rebecca Trehearn for the latter. Charlene James won Best New Play for CUTTIN' IT, and Paapa Essiedu Best Performance In A Play for the Royal Shakespeare Company's HAMLET.

Dick King-Smith's BABE, THE SHEEP-PIG Returns to the Stage

Adapted from Dick King-Smith's much-loved children's novel which inspired the Oscar-winning 1995 film, Babe, The Sheep-Pig will be brought to life on stage in an enchanting new production, embarking on a major UK Tour in 2017 following a Christmas season at Polka Theatre. Featuring stunning puppetry, an original score and an utterly charming 'baa-ber sheep' quartet, the tour will launch from West Yorkshire Playhouse on Monday 13 February and run until September 2017. BWW Review: LABYRINTH, Hampstead Theatre, 9 September 2016

Beth Steel, who scored at hit at the Hampstead in 2014 with a play about the 1980s miners' strike, has dipped back into history to create one with sickening relevance to the current financial crisis. It's 1978, and Wall Street is packed with cowboys gleefully eyeing up their new frontier: Latin America.
