NYT Presents THE FALL, BITCHES and More at London's Finborough Theatre, August

For the first time in its history, the National Youth Theatre (NYT) will present a season of new writing at London's Finborough Theatre throughout August. The season is to include three world premiere productions: Olivier Award-nominated James Fritz will present The Fall, a new play looking at how young people come to terms with an ageing society, Olivier Award-winner Bola Agbaje's Bitches will explore the joys and challenges of being young, female and black in her new play about vlogging and the first ever stage production of Mohsin Hamid's Man Booker Shortlisted The Reluctant Fundamentalist will examine the ironies of prejudice and representation in a post 9/11 New York and Pakistan. The programme of work is part of the NYT's 60th anniversary celebrations this year and runs 9 - 27 August.

National Theatre Explores Virtual Reality and 306 Films with New Immersive Storytelling Studio

The National Theatre today announces the establishment of an 'Immersive Storytelling Studio', which will form part of the National Theatre's New Work Department, in collaboration with the NT's Digital Development Team. The studio will examine how Virtual Reality and 360 films can widen and enhance the National's remit to be a pioneer of dramatic storytelling, to 'place their audiences in the shoes of another'.

The Public Theater announced today that Jeanie O'Hare has been named the Director of New Work Development. O'Hare, who will start at The Public in September, has more than 20 years of experience, working with leading theater companies in Britain and most recently serving as the Chair of Playwriting at the Yale School of Drama.
Roller Skating PUNKPLAY Gets UK Premiere at Southwark Playhouse

Gregory S. Moss's PUNKPLAY is a riot of a play told at breakneck pace with a killer soundtrack. It's a coming-of-age story about subcultures, friendship and not fitting in – all on roller skates. The play receives its UK premiere at Southwark Playhouse this autumn (September 7 to October 1), directed by Tom Hughes.
