Russ Abott Returns to the West End as Fagin in OLIVER!

Beginning June 14, Russ Abbot will reprise his previous West End role in the musical OLIVER! Abbot will once again play Fagin, the lead pickpocket. The production is currently playing at Theatre Royal in London. OLIVER! currently features WICKED alum, Kerry Ellis as Nancy Sikes, and Steven Hartley as Bill Sikes.

MARY POPPINS Holland Marks 5th Production Worldwide, Opening 4/11, Opens In Australia July 2010

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's MARY POPPINS makes its much-anticipated premiere Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Circus Theatre in Scheveningen, Holland, outside of Amsterdam. This marks the fifth major production of the title since it opened in London in 2004. Only three months after the Dutch opening, a sixth production opens in Melbourne, Australia in July 2010.

The 2010 Olivier Awards will take place on 21 March 2010 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, with Spring Awakening, Enron, Jerusalem and A Little Night Music among the standouts of the season with the most nominations. The Laurence Olivier Awards were established in 1976 as The Society of West End Theatre Awards, and Lord Olivier agreed to have his name associated with them in 1984. The Awards are run by The Society of London Theatre but are adjudicated by panels that are equally made up of members of the theatregoing public and experts chosen for their knowledge and professional experience. At a star-studded nominations party held today (4th December) at London's Café de Paris, the shortlist reveals that popular British screen stars, including Jude Law, Lenny Henry, Helen Mirren, Rachel Weisz, Alison Steadman, Dominic West, Mackenzie Crook and Patrick Stewart, will all battle it out for acting gongs.

Theater for the New City was to present a special production of 'Duet for Solo Voice' by David Scott Milton, directed by Stanley Allan Sherman and acted by Jonathan Slaff, September 24 to October 11, 2009 has announced that it will be postponed until later in the seaon.

Omid Djalili To Replace Rowan Atkinson In OLIVER!

Omid Djalili will replace Rowan Atkinson as Fagin in Cameron Mackintosh's OLIVER! The Iranian comedian will take over starting July 20, 2009, joining the rest of the original cast. He is scheduled to continue in the part until December 12, 2009. Cameron Mackintosh presents his triumphant new staging of Lionel Bart's masterpiece 'OLIVER!' at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, which was last seen at the Palladium in 1994. Oliver! is one of the most beloved British musicals, vividly bringing to life Dickens' timeless characters with its ever-popular story of the boy who asked for more.
