Goodman Theatre Announces March-April 2015 Lineup for Citywide August Wilson Celebration

Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death.

Cherry Lane's Fiordellisi to Step Down as Artistic Director in 2011

According to the NY Times, Cherry Lane Theatre's Angelina Fiordellisi, will resign as Artistic Director sometime between March and June of 2011. Additionally, Fiordellisi plans to sell the building, which has been a Greenwich Village staple since 1924, due to ongoing financial struggles.

Actress Salome Jens is an actor's actor. She considers acting a pure art form and is ever respectful of every single role she plays. From films like Angel Baby to Mae Olinski in TV's Mary Hartman Mary Hartman to her one-woman play About Anne, her work is passionate, thoughtful and evocative. She will be performing About Anne @ Group rep in NoHo November 19 and 20 as a benefit for the theatre. In our chat recently conducted on the stage of Group rep, she talks about the roots of About Anne (poet Anne Sexton, who struggled her entire short life with mental illness and committed suicide) and other theatrical passions.

The 39th Annual Theatre Hall of Fame ceremony will take place January 25th at the Gershwin Theatre in the North Rotunda. The list of inductees include Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lynn Redgrave, John McMartin, Stephen Schwartz, Jim Dale and more. The evening will be hosted by Pia Lindstrom.

The 2009 Theatre Hall of Fame inductees have been revealed and include such icons as actors Jim Dale, John McMartin and Lynn Redgrave; producers Roger Berlind and Ted Mann; composers Stephen Schwartz and Andrew Lloyd Webber; and, posthumously, the late playwright/actor Charles Ludlum. The Annual Theatre Hall of Fame ceremony, now in its 39th year, will be held Jan. 25, 2010, in the Gershwin Theatre's North Rotunda. Terry Hodge Taylor is producing the event.
