Dancer Rocio Molina and vocalist Rosario La Tremendita transformed flamenco as feminist and modern in Afectos (Feelings), their U.S. Premiere on March 21st. Accompanied by double bassist Pablo Martin, Molina and Tremendita captivated at Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC). With sensuous simplicity, they claimed their place in a tradition predominantly guided by the male voice in an eclectic program.
Jo-Ann Ragosta, Chairperson of the ARTS Scholarships 2014 program, along with the members of the Community Outreach Committee of the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC), have announced the winners of the ARTS Scholarships 2014 program, sponsored by the Textron Charitable Trust and PPAC Annual Fund Donors. This year's program will award scholarships to 33 talented Rhode Island students, ages 11 - 14, each of whom will receive a scholarship of up to $500 to attend local summer arts education programs that will expand their experiences in a chosen area of study (please see below for the list of ARTS Scholarships 2014 winners).

South By Southwest (SXSW) is best known for its music and introduction to many indie bands. While in Austin, Texas, you get a chance to meet many interesting and talented people. One such group of people were a band called Cheer Elephant. Their music has been described as 'a tight, rootsy, psychedelic poprock quartet' And their harmonies have been compared to the Beatles.
