Whimsical puppets, sculptures invade Blyth Gallery BLYTH - Visitors to the Blyth Festival Art Gallery will be treated to a show of whimsical marionette puppets and sculptures created by artist Gemma James Smith that caricature both imagined local characters and real historical figures. We've Been Here for So Long - the Huron County Show runs Aug. 25 to Sept. 25.

The Quebec premiere of Ronnie Burkett's The Daisy Theatre has been gaining critical acclaim since its opening show on February 22nd at Montreal's Centaur Theatre Company. Burkett has been a legend in the marionette world and continues to push the envelope with his topical shows. He is a craftsman, writer, puppet master, performer, vocal artist and provocateur extraordinaire. He has been creating his own marionettes for decades and is the sole-performer, other than his cheeky and charming characters for which Burkett provides all voices, in all of his shows.

Puppets galore descend upon Centaur Theatre as world renowned puppeteer provocateur, Ronnie Burkett, makes his Centaur debut with over 40 hand-crafted marionettes for the Quebec premiere of The Daisy Theatre, playing February 20 to March 24, 2018. Montreal's Festival de Casteliers will include The Daisy Theatre as part of its programming along with a post-show talkback following the March 8th performance.
Grand Theatre Announces 18th Annual Operating Surplus for 2016/17 Season

At the 2016/17 Annual General Meeting held yesterday, Deb Harvey, Executive Director, announced an operating surplus of $58,264 for the 2016/17 season, marking the theatre's 18th consecutive year with a surplus. The season was also the first for Dennis Garnhum as Artistic Director.

The season features a stunning artistic presence including Tara Rosling, Benedict Campbell, Catherine Joell MacKinnon and Daniel Williston. The Blyth Festival continues its 41st Season with the world premiere of a new musical, Fury, written by Peter Smith with music by Samuel Sholdice. Directed by Micheline Chevrier, Fury plays at Blyth Memorial Hall from tonight, July 29 to September 12.
