The San Francisco Playhouse, BlueRare Productions, and PlayGround team to present the SF Playhouse's critically acclaimed production of Abraham Lincoln's Big Gay Dance Party, by Aaron Loeb, directed by Chris Smith, as part of the13th Annual New York International Fringe Festival, thus furthering an SF Playhouse goal to deliver productions that can succeed on a national level. Performances will be held at HERE Arts Center (Mainstage Theater - Venue #17), 145 6th Avenue (between Spring and Broome).

Stephen Sachs will direct the Los Angeles premiere of Shining City, a modern-day ghost story from one of Ireland's most important young playwrights, Conor McPherson. Called 'an absolutely glorious new play... as close to perfection as contemporary playwriting gets' by The New York Times, Shining City will star Morlan Higgins, William Dennis Hurley, Kerrie Blaisdell and Benjamin Keepers. Performances take place September 19 through December 19 at The Fountain Theatre, with low-priced previews beginning September 12.

THE ORPHANS' HOME CYCLE, the world premiere of a three part theatrical event by the late Academy Award and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Horton Foote, will feature a company of 22 actors under the direction of Michael Wilson. The exciting, sweeping work will be co-produced in the 2009-2010 season by Hartford Stage (Michael Wilson, Artistic Director; Michael Stotts, Managing Director) and Signature Theatre Company (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director).

Albee, Broderick, Buckley & More Set For Horton Foote Memorial 5/11 At LCT

Lincoln Center Theater will host a memorial for the award winning writer Horton Foote on Monday, May 11 at 4pm at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). Mr. Foote, whose most recent play Dividing the Estate was presented on Broadway to critical acclaim earlier this season by Lincoln Center Theater by arrangement with Primary Stages, died on March 4, 2009.
2009 Actors Studio Drama School Inaugural Repertory Season Begins at Pace University 4/15 - 5/11

From April 15 through May 11 the 21 actors, three directors and one playwright in the first class to earn their Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) since the school moved to Pace in the fall of 2006 are presenting the school?s noted Repertory Season. The school is the only MFA theatre program officially sanctioned by the Actors Studio, whose co-Presidents are Ellen Burstyn, Harvey Keitel and Al Pacino.
